If you are an adult and you are looking for a good online program this is not the school for you. First, the faculty is extremely disinterested in offering guidance in planning a degree and would prefer to dictate what you need to do. Not friendly, no helpful. I decided to start with one online course. I'm taking a class with Gail Skinner Brassard and someone else on this board recently commented on her. SHE IS AWFUL. Rude. Feels like Catholic school all over! lol...I don't need this as an adult student. She is a nut. There is zero interaction among students and my guess is everyone wants to do their work and be done. Very unlike other online courses I've taken at other schools. JUST AWFUL!!!! SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

ONLINE STUDENT. I've taken other online courses and this is truly one of the worst. Gail Skinner Brassard or as she most likely sees herself: GAIL SKINNER BRASSARD!!!!!! is the most demotivating professor I have ever taken a class with.

I knew the minute I saw her approach in the syllabus that I would not work well with this teacher. Everything is from the point of a threat! Highlighted and emphasized! IF YOU DON'T DO THIS YOU WILL LOSE POINTS!!! IF YOU DO IT THAT WAY YOU WILL LOWER YOUR GRADE!!!! WARNING! WARNING! She is a condescending pedant and is NOT a credit to the Sociology dept. She has NO CONCEPT of how to structure an ONLINE COURSE! It isn't the same environment and someone should tell her.

Quite Bright
Sexism at this shoddy institution is rampant (perhaps due to the fact that the school was once all male), however, I found that the professors treated the females different from the males, even if they were more intelligent and received higher grades and SAT II scores than their male counterparts. Moreover, the only women who were hired to work in the laboratories tended to be overly proper and stereotypically ladylike in appearance and demeanor, cleaning and organizing for their bosses like house maids. Essentially, if you are a woman who desires to be a real scientist, do NOT go to Umass Lowell unless you want to become a beaker waitress for an average, biased scientist.
