I came here as a last choice because it was so much cheaper than other schools. I really thought I would like it here but after spending a year here I don't. I'm transferring next year to a bigger school next to a city. Although some people like it here, I don't.

First of all, there isn't anything really to do. Alot of students live in Southwick or Springfield, and so they all commute here. On the weekends all the students with cars go home, so it's pretty much a ghost town. Being a freshman, I couldn't have a car on campus so I often felt stuck here with nothing to do. There are never events going on no one really goes to the sporting games.

Another thing that I was disappointed in was the people. I come from the east coast near Boston, and I had always thought that people from the city were not that nice. However, people out here are much more close minded. It astounds me. Some of my friends come here who lived with me back home, and they think the same thing also. I had trouble the first couple of weeks trying to make friends, because everyone would just go into their rooms and shut the doors. It wasn't like my friends at other schools, who could just walk down a hallway to an open door and hang out. I tried to do and no one here was interested in that. The only people I know on my floor live across the hall, I have never even seen the other people on my floor before. The other thing I was disappointed in was the academics. I came here as a biology major and am also in the honors program. The other classes I am in are just normal elective classes. What I have observed this year is that people in my normal classes think that the academics here are extremely difficult. However, I have met some people who are both in the honors programs and are biology majors like myself who think that classes here are not challenging at all and also planning on transferring.

The professors here are very good and know what they're teaching. The class selection for business majors offers many choices that allowed me to take classes i wanted to lean about. The only negatives i've experience is the overcrowdness of the school. I had to live in a forced triple which wasnt fun, the room was way too small for three people to live in. I ended up living off campus next semester.

Westfield State has provided me with a great education. I mainly looked at state colleges in massachusetts when i was college searching. Money is an issue in my family so it helped being an instate student. My two top schools i was accepted to was umass amherst and westfield state. I decided on Westfield because i felt umass was too big and overhelming. I am glad i choose westfield state it fit my needs best and i enjoyed my undergraduate career here.
