Freshman year can be rough for people you are expecting that stereotypical college experience, but after freshman year you get to see the real diamond in the rough that is hiding. I highly recommend that any girl who would like to become a well-rounded and well-informed women, check out Notre Dame. Education Quality: A+, Social Life: C+ Have a Question? The thing that is quite annoying is that Sage Dinning services (the people who cater our food) make the best food for special events only and serve crap food during the week. Gator Ally has much better food and snacks. Computer Science/Information Systems major/minor is pretty much nonexistant -- the whole department needs a major makeover and should take qeues from Loyola, Towson, and John's Hopkins CIS/CS departments. There are only 3 faculty that teach these classes and all 3 are hard to get ahold of when you need something. Dr. Yoon and Ms. Esposito do reply to e-mails fairly quickly, however. Plan on having to take a class or few at either Loyola or Towson because a few classes listed and needed for graduation cannot be taken at Notre Dame -- you need to take them elsewhere. Part of the reason is because the department lacks resources and faculty to teach. With such a lack of students in this department, all classes except for programming classes (a total of 4 classes) will now be taught online -- I for one am quite annoyed and upset about this as I am not paying $35,000 a year to attend an online college. Campus is kept up nicely with cut grass, flowers, trees, etc. Students are helpful and usually friendly. The school does have some extracurricular clubs and such, but participation is quite low most of the time. There are no sororities on campus and are not allowed because they do not reflect the college's learning motto. Graduate and Weekend college bring in most of the money for the school -- enrollment for the women's college is going down the tubes FAST. Perceived Campus Safety: A, Social Life: D+ Have a Question? Yes, with a tight knit community there are "clicks" and sometimes making friends is difficult, but the friends I made freshman year are still my friends after graduateing. Yes the food can be horrible on some nights (weeks) but it is not the food that you care about after you leave, its the experince. Yes the higher-ups treat you like a number but you don't interact with them reguarlly, I would rather have a teacher who I can call for advice and remember me even after I leave. I thought Notre Dame was a terrible school when I first got there, but then I gained an appreciation for the level of education and respect for my peers. And yes the name "Notre Dame" has helped me get a good job and network in the proffesional world. As for Baltimore, I still live here, I don't plan to raise a family in the city but for now as a young woman with an exiting career Baltimore is a great town once you get out of the comfort zone of campus and go to the jazz lounges or the meusems. It took me till recently, but I am glad that I attended Notre Dame. I know this was a long post but if you relax, learn, and try to know yourself and others Notre Dame can be beautiful. (Oh and I met my Husband, like many of my class mates while going to school, so don't buy into that stereotype of no dating.... trust me you can date) Education Quality: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: B- Have a Question?
