I'm a rising senior painting major and though there are significant frustrations with some of the decisions the school makes (particularly how to spend the rising tuition fees) Overall it has been a positive experience and the faculty and classes have really helped me in developing as an artist.

mica is actually a pretty good school, but its just in the wrong place. Baltimore isn't the greatest place to go to school, and being in baltimore effected my creative process. alot of kids from mica were nerds in highschool so when you start there alot of people are pretty naive and spread rumors because campus life is so boring that thats all to do. if u are planning to go all 4 years expect a good 3 years of depression. if u have good social skills you'll be fine. also good street smarts is key if u live off campus. also, compared to my highschool experience i saw more physical fights at mica then at my highschool. mica is a big soap opera.

MICA is somewhat of a joke. The amount of pressure put on you to be unique & successful can be overwhelming. This demand isn't followed through with from the education. There is often a lot of miscommunication. The acamdemic classes are normally very general and simple. The studio courses in the fine art departments are so-so. Some are good, some are horrible....There are not enough faculty to teach. Every semester there are more and more problems with classes because you never can get the classes you want because there aren't enough classes to choose from. If you are an upperclassmen forget it. Every year MICA acepts more and more freshman who fill up the classes. No faculty, not many options for classes. The only thing you can hope for when you get out of here is having a prestigeous degree. Othere than that there isn't much help with planning on finding a job.
