I am a 30year single mother of one, working part time, attending SDC nursing program full time. Once this semester is over I am withdrawing from this school. The college itself is a little unorganized but its not that bad. The problem comes when you actually reach the nursing program; their staff is rude, inconsiderate, arrogant, unhelpful, liars, and most of all their are not compassionate about their work as advisors and teachers. None of them take responsibility for any of their shortcomings, the finger will always be pointed at you in the end. They do not take your concerns seriously at all. They are all family and/or friends in that department for the most part so if the Dean or one of your instructors may not really like you, it will be like its contagious. The Deans' mother and brother is teachers there, the assistant dean is bff from way back with the a head professor, etc. I would not recommend no one to come to this nursing program at least until its revised completely. Based on FAFSA, SDC passing rate is now 27%, which is sad. I dont even feel the new professors dont even teach you the right way and I dont feel like they prepare you for the NCLEX. I am now at 15k in debt with loans for the nursing program alone so this will be my last semester there; I refuse to put another penny into this college. I hope I have helped someone even if its just one person. I wish you luck with your future success.

I can't deny that I read many of these positive reviews of SDC with a sense of perplexity. Did we all attend the same institution? To say there is any sense of academic rigor here is just blatantly false. I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent and I barely had to try to graduate with academic honors. For an institution whose faculty touts itself to helping the people in the surrounding areas, I believe they should be ashamed of themselves. They are offering degrees and handing them out without offering collegiate level instruction or demanding collegiate level work. They are leaving their graduates with a incredible disadvantage.

I've made life-long friends here and am thankful for that. But, knowing where I received my Bachelor's from, I was quick to enroll in a Master's program with a different institution, as the name SDC holds less academic weight than the local community colleges in Baltimore. Nothing that I received at SDC prepared my for graduate school (mind you-I graduated with honors). Thankfully, I used the energy there was no need to exert at SDC in my graduate work. Please visit this school. Please tour and ask to sit in on a few classes. Do not take my word that I am correct just as you shouldn't take the word of any other review here. See for yourself. There is no rigor. High school was more rigorous. For shame.

To my understanding in the Social Work degree plan, I can not be licensed. What will I be able to do with a BS degree and no license?
