| Bright | I enjoyed some of my education there. I mostly enjoyed my student teaching and a few classes for education. There were several classes that I found pointless. My MAJOR PROBLEM is with the community. It is crime ridden beyong belief, and the town and university try to cover it up. I felt safe on campus, but anywhere outside of campus was a nightmare. There are break ins, rapes, robberies, and gun crimes all over the place. Not to mention there were drug dealers and a prostitute that walked the corner by my house less than a mile from campus. On top of everything, the police are more focused on busting college students than the real criminals. Two noise violations land you 90 days in jail. It's not safe there. I would HIGHLY recommend another school. My parents were TERRIFIED after they saw the neighborhoods. Sorry to the University. It's the neighborhood that ruins it. | Starting Job: Teacher, Preparedness: B, Reputation: D+ | | |

I've only attended Salisbury University for two years, but I've been here long enough to know that it's not for me. I would like to warn others against coming here, or at least clarify what they they should expect. Salisbury University revolves around four basic things:
-almost entirely alcohol-based social life
-lacrosse/field hockey
-nursing program
-education program
If at least two of those things appeal to you, then coming here might not be a bad idea. Otherwise, avoid it. Academically, the campus is at best mediocre. The surrounding city is not a stimulating place for most young people. I've had generally poor experiences with our career services and housing facilities. It's not that things here are horrible, exactly, it's just that the opportunities are so much better at larger universities, even instate. Where we might have one or two orchestral performances per season, UMD has one every week or two. Whereas here you might get an internship at Wallops Island, at UMD you could get work at NASA in DC. I came here because I've lived in Salisbury all my life: it was the easy and convenient decision. Without a compelling reason involving the above four suggestions, I see no good reason for the high school grad to consider Salisbury University. | Campus Aesthetics: A, Education Quality: D

i absolutely loved the school. i came here from new jersey as an athletic training major and a varsity swimmer. i made a lot of incredible friends and had equally great professors. the exercise science department is wonderful with professors who truly care about their students. unfortunately, the school is a bit conservative just because it's a little south of where i'm from. the biggest problem i had with SU (and the reason i transferred after my sophomore year) is that i was petrified to leave my apartment at night because even walking to the car seemed dangerous. the police and the town don't care about the safety of students. i cannot tell you how many of my friends have been mugged or threatened in the neighboring area. there were armed robberies in our apartment complex multiple times. the school recently did a survey and over 50% of students don't feel safe leaving campus or walking outside at night. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: F

| Quite Bright | What an amazing school...I had the time of my life and the education I recieved was great too. Anyone who doesn't have fun there must be locked in the dorm room talking to no one. | Starting Job: Teacher, Preparedness: A, Reputation: A | | |
