Salisbury University is a school that has grown from nothing to something over the years. They have installed two new huge buildings and have made them attractive and appealing as well as the rest of the campus. The education is good and it is a fun time overall especially if you join a fraternity. I would recommend going here because there is not too many complaints I can give it. Some people make it seem not so fantastic but it is a very nice school

I don't go to Salisbury, but having lived in Maryland my whole life (aside from the Army) I know it's reputation. If you want a job upon graduation don't attend SU or leave now.

Most employers in MD know that it's just a place to go drink for four years and the likelihood that someone actually received (or seized their own) education there is low. If you further screw yourself by majoring in Art or Psychology or Sport Management (aka Phys Ed, what a joke) then don't blame anyone but yourself if you end up begging for change, sitting around being a fat housewife or as a balding pissed off soccer coach.

I know that everyone is different and what I like may not be what you like. Because of that I made a list of traits that would either cause you to love or hate going to Salisbury University.

If you will NOT like it here if you...
are from of have ever lived in any city.
do art or play music or are into anything creative.(Shitty cover bands don't count)
ride bicycles
ride public transit
go out at night
are vegetarian/vegan
have ever read a book
enjoy irony
believe that global warming exists
believe in evolution and/or science
recycle(Salisbury only recycles bottles and cans. seriously)
go to see bands
go to art shows
need a job while in school
realize that a neighborhood with predominately black residents is not "ghetto" or "scary"
This school is for you if you...
love Arby's/Taco Bell/McDonalds etc
are obese
love music on the radio
watch Football every Sunday
want to join a Fraternity/Sorority
take beer pong seriously
call your male friends things like "Faggot", "Queer" or "Pussy"
rate your worth by how many guys want to have sex with you
rate your worth by how many girls you have slept with
buy most of your stuff at Wal-Mart
think the world is 3,000 years old
want to join the Campus Crusade for Christ(largest club at SU)
are a white rastafarian
smoke pot all day. Seriously, all day
have 5 or more red, green and yellow pieces of flair
are ok with driving 2 hours round trip everytime you want to go to the beach
Now, I'm sure you may be thinking that I just have a prejudice towards the latter group, and you would be correct. That said, you may be one, and that's okay. If so, you'll probably love it here. Only thing to keep is mind if you are a white hat wearing, rager douche bag. The police are VERY aggressive about parties these days. Your party will most likely be broken up very early. _Everyone_ who lives there will get fined. The school will be notified and also fine you and make you take classes. Also, if you get 3 noise complaints the landlord will be legally required to evict you. I'm not bitter about this happening to me, it has not, I'm just letting you know that they started cracking down really heavy on parties a couple years ago, and is yet another reason why this place sucks.

A few additional pointers.
This may seem obvious to many but do not move here without a car! The only thing worth doing around here is 40 miles away(the beaches). The bus here is called "Shore Transit" and it is $3 one way with NO transfers and as you can guess barely runs. Most people leave for a lot of the weekends to go back home or other cities. In the summer the place empties out. It's like a ghost town. Almost everyone goes back home for the summer. There are no jobs and nothing to do so no one really sees the point.

The people who talk about crime are either just racist and scared of black people and/or have never lived in a city. This place is not even close to dangerous compared to any actual city. There is some crime, but I have never been scared or felt unsafe.

As for the education, it depends on what you want. If you want a school where pretty much anyone can pass then this school is for you. Seriously. High school was harder than SU. If you can't graduate here, you can't graduate anywhere. If you care about learning anything, or if you degree will be of any value to perpective employers then you should really look elsewhere. And you would be insane to go to SU if you care about grad school. So that's about all I can think of right now with the school. I really wish I had known before coming here. I picked it because it was so cheap, and I know I'll be able to get my degree so I'm probably going to tough it out. I just wish that someone had told me all of this before coming here. I had heard some bads things and honestly thought that it couldn't possibly be that bad. Turned out it was worse.
