Great school, classes are challenging and making friends is easy! I tend to stay on campus at night or go out in a group. Just use common sense and don't put yourself in an unsafe situation.

My wife and I just moved here after being stationed at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. We both attended Cameron University there as well. We chose the Eastern Shore for its proximity to attractions and large cities. I also researched Salisbury University extensively. I am 33 and my wife is 31. We have both been attending the school full time thanks to our GI bill. I have attended 2 other colleges in my pursuit of education. I am attracted to a smaller campus with a more direct connection between professors and students. SU absolutely fills that request. Every professor is extremely approachable and truly cares about the education of their students. The math department goes beyond their obligations to ensure a quality education for their students. The English department also has a terrific program to ensure a well-rounded education. I am a computer science major with a math minor. My fellow students are very engaging. I have made many friends and we have formed study groups that cover every subject in our degree paths. The University has many resources to accommodate our private studies. They have constructed special use multimedia/meeting rooms available to everyone. Professors even offer to attend our sessions for supplemental instruction. My only major issue is a couple of the professors in the computer science department speak broken English and are very difficult to follow. If SU were to require professors to attend spoken English classes the quality of education would be phenomenal. My fellow students and I discuss relevant topics in the mathematics and computer science fields to enhance our educations. I feel we will be at the cutting edge of technology for job placement after graduation.

The city of Salisbury is not huge. It has its poor areas which facilitate crime as any city does. Because the city is not large though, it seems as if the crime areas are a lot closer than they actually are. The University is in a beautiful area with many attractions close by. There are many restaurants and stores within walking distance. Ocean city is a 30 minute drive away and offers many attractions. The party scene is not as bad as other commenters have stated.

One of the commenters who gave the school an F was part of the campus police. As with all schools, the campus police here seem to acquire and ego not appropriate for their position. Again, not all are this way and I have spoken to many who are kind and helpful. But you must remember that the campus police see mainly the negative side to the school. They have to deal with the problems, not the fun stuff. That will give anyone a poor taste in their mouth.

Overall I think Salisbury offers a quality education and a fun, activity filled small campus life. The staff and students are very friendly and considerate. I am proud to display the SU sticker on the back window of my car!
