The classes are very educationalNov 17 2017Unknown
The classes are very educational. Master's degree students are second class citizens. J.D. students are clearly first class citizens even though the professors all say that due to their years of work experience and the fact that they're older, the Master's degree students are more motivated and more interesting. The law school is very nice. Unfortunately, Master's degree students rarely see the law school because most of the classes are taught at another Maryland campus...not at the law school.

This is a great SchoolApr 02 2012Unknown
This is a great School. I really love the GPILS programme. You have hundreds of faculty to choose from. The campus is rather somber but if you are the serious type - this is the place. I think, I learnt a lot on this campus. The courses are really designed to help you in your graduate career.
The students are the best partJul 28 2011Social Work
The students are the best part. I have had a handful of instructors that have been awesome. Mostly it has been an uphill battle. There is no help from anyone and when you reach out for guidance, you're either treated rudely, brushed off, or plainly ignored. I'm not sure if I want to be a social worker after this. If a degree in social work turns one into these people, count me out.
Don't do itMar 03 2009Pharmacy
Don't do it. Baltimore is a miserable city. Find another school to go to, you'll be glad you did. You can't have my email address...
I would not recommend this universityJul 19 2006Biology
I would not recommend this university. The faculty are indifferent towards students. They are not very helpful and do not look out for the students. The university is located in an unsafe area especially at night. The campus is not that nice. Some of the graduate programs are undergoing re-organization like the GPILS. At this time the program lacks unity, strength, and an overall clear vision for students.
UMB is not located in a safe cityMay 01 2006Biology
UMB is not located in a safe city or area. One has to be careful at night. The community around the university is okay but not really a nice place to go to school and enjoy a social life. Safety is an issue. Also, people in the city are not that friendly. City life in Baltimore is not great. But the saefood is good.
Graduate school should be challenging, yet funApr 20 2006Biology
Graduate school should be challenging, yet fun. The University of Maryland at Baltimore is neither. The University attempts to compete with Johns Hopkins, however, is unsuccessful. The faculty that make up the graduate programs are not the best by any means, even though they think they are top notch like Johns Hopkins. The education I obtained here is average. If I had to do it over again I would have went to another university. Going to a university like this does little in the long run for your career.
UMB is not an ideal place for 5Apr 13 2006Biology
UMB is not an ideal place for 5 years of gaduate school. Programs in the life sciences are not highly ranked and for good reason. The institution lacks high quality faculty and as a result a graduate education at the institution is mediocre. The faculty are not friendly, engaging, or helpful. The graduate environment is not very conducive to intellectual stimulation. The university is dull and lacks true scholarship. If you wish to be part of a fun and exciting graduate program do not attend this school. You will be disappointed.
Campus Safety is an issueAug 17 2005Pharmacy
Campus Safety is an issue. Be prepared to spend a lot of money for on-campus housing. The best thing about the school is that it is next to Edgar Allen Poe's grave. Andy's Cheesesteaks used to be good (don't buy them now).
UMB is a greatAug 17 2005Chemistry
UMB is a great school--but don't live in University housing! I lived at USFS for 1 year- and although convenient, it is not worth it-it is expensive and everything is cheaply made.
