Not so bright
The great part about UMES is that it's a cheap and chill place for one to start out in. But I wouldn't stay here for my graduate degree. The faculty are uneducated and have attitudes. Plus the school tries to nickel and dime the students every chance they get.

Super Brilliant
This is by far the worst university ever.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THIS HORRIBLE INSTITUTION!!!!!
I WOULD LITERALLY SAY ANY ONE WHO ATTENDED THIS UNIVERSITY HAD A BETTER CHANCE OF BENEFITING MORE BY JOINING THE NAVY OR ANOTHER INSTITUTION.

MANY STUDENTS WILL COME INTO THIS SCHOOL WITH A FEELING OF INTELLIGENCE. BUT AT THE END OF YOUR COLLEGE TENURE; MOST MEANING (90% OF YOUR FRESHMAN DORM WONT BE AT THIS SCHOOL YOUR JUNIOR YEAR) AND IF THEY DO STAY TO GRADUATE HOPEFULLY. A THOUGHT THAT YOUR INTELLIGENCE HAS DECREASED WHEN LEAVING COMPARED TO THAT OF HIGH SCHOOL.

Please seriously do not attend this school...YOU OR YOUR CHILD IS BETTER OFF SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
YOUR WARNING!!!School will also roll out red carpet for 1st week of school to look glamorous but believe the administration nor the teacher body doesn't care about the student. They care about money...NOT WHO IS SUPPLYING IT!!!

Quite Bright
Some have given the school the nick-name U MESS and I would say that pretty much sums it up. The professors/instructors I've dealt with are decent and seem to be on the side of the students, but the administration is TERRIBLE!

Everthing you try to get done is a hassel. The staff has the attitude that they want to say no to whatever you're trying to get taken care of before you even ask. The different departments seem to be at war with each other and there is NO cooperation.

I've had major issues registering every semester so far. It's like a prison where you have to learn the "system" to survive. Many of the policies are ridiculous and some appear to be in place just to punish the students for trying to get an education. It is seriuosly out of control!

I'm a commuter student so I can't say much about campus life but if I were going to live at a school I'd go somewhere else. There's litterally nothing anywhere near the campus to do.

The pros are that I do like my classes and instructors for the most part, and the tuition is super cheap if you're a MD resident. Much of the equipment, furniture, and facilities are older and not in great shape but that's ok with me if it keeps the cost down.

Bottom line: Good place to go for cheap credits especially if you commute, but you have to learn to deal with the BS. If I were a freshman going away to school and had other options, I'd look into them first.
