Not so bright
I loved visting Baker College of Owosso and thought it would be a great school to go to and enjoy it there. They need to really re-evaluate the school and the services they provide to their students. The goodthings about the school is that the instructors you can call them at home, and they are willing to meet with you at anytime. I don't know what other college you can do that it. That is definetely a bonus. The bad side of the school, is that you live in the dorms it is gossip central and it is like high school all over again. Don't even pay for the dorm get an apartment the staff is extremely petty. If you live in the dorms expect your weekends to be pretty lame and there is not a lot of activities. You will be stuck in your room with nothing to do.
They need to have better adivising for their students and better communication if they want to compete in the arena of higher education. On Fridays, tutoring stops at 1:00 in the afternoon, and the library closes at 5:00; however, classes are still going on in the evenings and think that is terrible. The library is the most important thing on a university campus, and most schools are open 24 hrs no matter what time. Baker of Owosso has a cap on how much time you can recieve tutoring per week and need to go through the schools counselor to get more. Counseling and student adivising needs a lot of work departments just don't work together and the counseling department screwed up a student's schedule that prevented them from graudating. They personally need a head adivisor for the health students and works together with them.
Students at that school are not very happy there. The best campus that offers the best services is Auburn Hills Baker, that truly is the best school around.

radiology- do not waste your money or time. they do not care about you. once they have your money then they are rude. They also lie about requirements and don't care. i left after working hard for 2 years. had a 3.8 gpa, was not good enough for them. many good schools in mi., try grand rapids, lansing, wastenaw. oakland, ferris, midmichigan but don't go to bakers.

COME TO BAKER ONLY IF YOU WANT TO LIVE A MISERABLE LIFE!There's nothing whatsoever to do. Its the end of the year and everyone left. There's about 70 people in our hall. Our hall has had mice. We have mouse traps in our dorm right now. They are very strict, but make exceptions for certain people they like. Ex. - I got in trouble for drinking - kicked out of the dorm for a week & I live 4 hours away. I did deserve it. That's not what I'm complaining about. But another girl on my floor was drinking one night and she ran up to our R.A. and gave her a hug. It was very obvious she had been drinking. We asked our R.A. why she wasn't getting in trouble because my roomates and I were upset that I did and she didn't. Then she told this girl to just go in her room and stay there. Then this girl snuck out later. How does she let one student drink but not another? I was fuming! Plus the rule here at Baker is that if you know someone else is drinking which our R.A. did, then you have to tell on them otherwise you will get in trouble too. Our R.A. could have gotten kicked out. So many people have got kicked out of here for the dumbest things too. Then another R.A. gets high in his room. Everyone can smell it in the halls, plus people say that they have gotten high w/him. I don't really care what other people do, but there were these kids across the hall from me that smoked it in there room. We all had to get our dorms searched by the K-9 unit. Imagine coming back from studying at the library and dogs are barking and going thru your room. Scary. But that one R.A. can smoke whenever he wants because our RHC, the head guy of our hall, likes him. Another thing that just happened 2 days ago - my sister lives in Chicago and had to catch the train in East Lansing at 8:00 on a Monday morning. Owosso is only 40 minutes from E. Lansing where the train was so I was going to take her b/c we live 4 hours away. If we didn't stay at Baker we would have to leave my house at 3 in the morning to get there early enough. My mom didn't want us driving that late b/c we would be tired and there are lots of deer at night. She thought it would be a better idea if we stayed in my dorm Sunday night then left in the morning. We all agreed. So my mom called someone at Baker and they said they would make an exception. They usually don't allow that b/c it was a school night. I didn't have any classes the next day, plus all my roomates were still out of town until the next day, which we told Baker about. So she ends up staying. Then 2 days later I get a call at 9 in the morning from the lady that's in charge of all the halls, everyone calls her Hitler cause she's mean. She gets a big attitude w/me and tells me that when I aksed my R.A. and she said no b/c its a school night - that means no. But my R.A. said well maybe you can talk to someone else that will make an excpetion. So I think my R.A. told her that I asked her first and she said no so then I just went to someone else to get away with it anyways. Then before she hung up she told me that next time I should ask a little sooner. She was just looking for something to try to intimidate me because I got away with something and they are so strict with there rules. Sorry I just wanted to be safe. The people at Baker do not care about you, especially the staff. The teachers are nice and helpful though. Just don't live in the dorms. I think its funny when I see Baker's commercial on T.V. "We treat students like they are more than just a student I.D. number". Bull sh*t!!! I have never been treated nice and I am really nice to other people. Then someone hit my car in the parking lot when i left it there for the weekend and I called the cops because I wanted a police report for my insurance. They yelled at me and told me that I should have only called campus safety. There's so much more I could say, but not enough time. I just remember for my orientation when some girl said Baker sucks and don't come here - I really should have listened.

Unbelievably easy. The course work for a college composition course should be challenging and time consuming. Instead, there are field trips planned, the instructor believes in I-Search Papers, and the syllabus is way to short. I'm not being challenged and I'm very dissapointed. The thought of transfering before the end of the year has come to mind every minute I have been here.
