Super Brilliant
I had a very negative experiene with the students and the administration. Neither group, on the whole, knows what to do with minorities, or people who aren't like them. The faculty were generally good. Many of them required you to think for yourself and were very supportive.

If you're a minority of any variety (not white, upper-middle class, heterosexual, intelligent, meat-eating, Republican, Christian Reformed Church...) then you are going to run into some difficulties, a few like-minded people, and a lot of transfer applications.

I was lied to about having a spot to live on campus.
AFter moving all the way out to michigian I find out I have no place to live. After finaly dealing with the very rude female staff members in Fin' Aid I was alocated some money to live on. Every time I went into the office I felt as If I was on wanted by this over wieghted female that worked there with my Fin' aid. She was very rude.

There have been other reports about this happining to out of country students also one was threatened to be deported!!!

As far as the Computer science major the teachers ROCKED!! :D :D

But all the kids on calvin's abstract email chat were a bunch of self absorbed cocky little punks. You can't reason with them no matter what. If you make a comment about being not christian They say don't throw that crap in my face. The first posting I made was about using a cluster of computers to work on crypto, Next thing you know I'm getting flaimed by a ton of anti social nerds calling me a typical idiotic freshmen. Then after replieng saying listen I used to be a profesional in this field, ran my own security groups and was 24 not 18... They just flamed more and more. Try it once http://www.calvin.edu/archive/abstraction-chat/ type in christian or some other key words you will see what I mean.

I would say calvin is the perfect school other then the email comp sci chat group and the cocky FEmales in Fin' aid.

I was happy to be at Calvin during the time I was there, however, now that I'm out, I do not miss having to deal with the self-righteous religious crowd. If you're going to Calvin, you better read the Bible cover-to-cover or suffer the ultimate humilation of not being able to integrate at least ten verses into casual conservations with other students on a daily basis.
While attending Calvin, I had high regard for its parties until I started partying with people at another college, then I realized just how lame the Calvin parties really were. What an embarassment that was.
None of my fellow alumni even keep in touch with me. That just goes to show how genuinely friendly they all are there.
