Positive Negative Neutral Advice
There was poor advising from the beginning ofAverageChemistry
There was poor advising from the beginning of the firs year. There was not a clear direction for what I should be registering for, and not guidance about the degree I stated I was seeking. The science department and math department, both very crucial for my degree, had instructors who did not speak English as a first language so understanding content was difficult and I felt as though I was teaching myself much of the information. The TA in each class did speak English, but were arrogant, unhelpful, and not readily avaialble. Even when attending study sessions, I often left feeling as though it was a waste of my time and I still had unanswered questions. I did expect the degree path of the sciences to be challengeing, but also fully expeced that when I needed help and sought it out, that it would be avaialble and helpful. It was not on both accounts.

A degree from CMU was a joke thenGeography and Geosciences
A degree from CMU was a joke then and I'd bet it is now. NO advice on degrees or career possibilities, just hand over your wallet. I should have gone to a two-year tech school like Ferris was back then---I would have been money ahead in both spent funds and earning potential. Avoid CMU if you want an interactive educational experience.

A university is exactly what YOU put intoQuite BrightArt & Design Department
A university is exactly what YOU put into it. Meeting people is easy if your outgoing, every one here is here to have a good time and a good experience. Just takes some self push to try new things like you would have to at any university. The campus is small enough to walk from end to end in 15 minutes and see lots of beautiful women. Bar life is every night, CMU does not stop. Facilities are decent, however in 5 more years the campus will look like new. They're building a lot of new buildings. If you care about athletics, buy a big screen tv because we suck at sports, we're here to party. In all honesty, our tailgates get more national recognition than our sports. Yay sports. That being said, our intramural sports are great! with great, close to campus fields and activity center. The IMs are relatively cheap as well, playing on a 6 week league will run about $10.
