Choosing EMU over MSU was quite possibly the worst decision of my life. The linguistics program cross-lists its upper-level courses with the education department, meaning that complex theory has to be watered down to a level suitable for the average public school teacher-to-be. There was no challenge, whatsoever, involved in getting As in any of the undergraduate OR graduate courses. Grad students here, in both the linguistics and CS departments, are some of the most incapable, whining twerps I've ever dealt with. I feel like I need a tetanus shot coming out of the recreation center's locker rooms. Half the student body is comprised of commuter non-traditional students -- the types of people who don't know how to use a computer. Campus events tend to be complete jokes. This is where the academic spirit goes to die. I am embarrassed to tell people I go to EMU, and am anxiously awaiting the day I can put my years here behind me.

I would not have gone to Eastern Michigan University. I went there because I felt that it was going to have a small college feel to it, where they actually cared about their students. If I had known they were going to treat me as merely just a number I would have went to Michigan State or U of M and gotten a better education, and possibly had better career prospects at the end of my graduation rather than just a large bill that I have now. I am still working at the same company I have been working with since I was 17. I feel that my time spent at EMU was a waste of time, energy and money. PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL!

This is for President Martin. please have a deep look into polymers and coatings department students are scared like hell. Best way is to ask them individually. Some professors are trying to kill there own department -----this is very discouraging - ------ one of the professor warns students in a real bad manner-----the exact words from professor are - "do this or I will never allow you to graduate" ---- and he does that also. Thank god after so much trouble I finally graduated and I am out of hell. I am praying for other students now.
