I'll be honest - I only came to Eastern because I was offered $4500 per year in two scholarships. At the end of my first semester, I lost all of that money because the university failed to post anywhere on their site that the better of the two scholarships was contingent upon keeping the other. If I could do it all over again, I would have gone to my first-choice school rather than this place. In the two years I have been here, I have heard of a murder, a shooting (where only one non-student was injured), and dozens of armed and unarmed robberies. I'm terrified to walk around campus at night, which is a shame, because the beautiful campus is the only thing Eastern has going for it. Do not be fooled - if you want a true university experience, this isn't the school for you. This is a HUGE commuter school, and even the majority of people who live on campus go home on weekends. There is nothing to do on campus, and the clubs/organizations are difficult to get any information on. People are very closed off here - I haven't made any friends that I plan to talk to after I transfer. Ypsilanti is a mediocre city - There are quite a few great restaurants (if you're ever in the area, check out Aubree's and Tower Inn), but other than that, there's nothing to do. You have to drive the twenty minutes to Ann Arbor to be able to do anything, which sucks if you're like me and don't have a car, because the public transit is more confusing than the coursework here. Professors range from great to horrible - I've had one amazing professor in my minor, but a horrible professor in my major who made me despise that field. Overall, coming to Eastern was the worst decision I ever made, and I can't wait to transfer out of this school at the end of this semester.

I have watched EMU use students as test subjects. They need to correct all of the last many years mistakes. Yet, there is no method that works in gedtting help. Just try appealing a grade. Don't go to EMU. And by the way, that dumb bird is no real mascot.

Emu's staff has really NASTY attitudes. There not very approachable at ALL. At EMU I have had some HORRIBLE professors (don't answer emails, don't take full use of their office hours, don't care to help you at all) and some Professors that were GREAT. If EMU is really a choice-I would choose NOTto go here-there are SO many better colleges. Emu has been the worst experience for me EVER. Their so un-organized with everything especially the Financial aid office and the staff in the offices aren't polite or helpful. The hall/dorm staff is just as bad. Though minorities go to EMU they are very RACISTS. The police department is veryCORRUPTED amongst black students especially black men. Watch out for police office named Joe or Joseph. Emu campus is very nice- but the other factors way out the positive. Think and do research before you decide to come here and remember this is where you'll say you graduated from!
