I was really excited about going to Grand Valley. So much so that I disregarded the bad reviews, and thought that they were just close minded. I was wrong. This campus is a Stepford campus. It's pretty, has nice dorms, and has good food. That's it. I feel like the Einstein on campus. People here are all from small schools and small towns. It's suffocating. That being said, there's NO social life. No parties. Nothing. People go home or to Western or to State. DO NOT COME HERE. It was a terrible decision and I'm transferring after this semester.

Honestly, I love GVSU. You get a great education, the mixture of a big school but small classes, and everyone is great. Furthermore, the people complaining about a lack of social life are only those who want to party every day. You know what? I'm glad GVSU isn't like that. If that's what you want, you can walk about a quarter mile away from campus to the off-campus apartments (the Village at 48, for instance) and you'll find what you're looking for. I have something fun to do every single day; it's a matter of getting involved and not sitting in your room complaining the entire time. My classes have been great, my professors have been great, and my classmates have been great. I love living on campus. The lowest grade I gave GVSU is for surrounding city. Allendale is pretty lame, but the bus goes to Grand Rapids and connects with the Grand Rapids bus system--there's ALWAYS something to do in GR... not that I've had to leave campus to have fun.

Going to school here is like being sucked into a black hole. You take your classes, finish your requirements, and then when you try to graduate you have to kick and scream and jump through 20 different hoops. Its nearly impossible to get a straight answer out of anyone regarding requirements, programs, financial aid, ect. You can be as academically superior as you want, but going here is a huge pain because the administration is so convoluted you cannot truly accomplish anything.
Campus Maintenance: A+, Individual Value: F
