Campus life is great and it is so easy to get involved with many clubs/organizations. Staff/faculty are almost always friendly and available to answer any questions you have. Professors obviously range in quality just based on teaching style, but most professors take the time to get to know your name and are always open to meeting with you outside of class to ask questions. Many professors include their cell and home numbers so that they are available to you as much as possible - even when they are not working.

Engineering is very difficult. Electrical is the hardest. Dont worry about grades, it will discourage your and slow you down. Just do your work and make sure you know everything. DONT do it for the money or job security because you will get burnt out in the first semester. Do it because you are truly interested in it. If you are your truly interested and willing to have no social life/ study from Sunday morning to Friday afternoon for 4 or 5 years then you will most likely graduate for one of the hardest programs at GVSU. GVSU engineering is one of the toughest programs in the state but only west michigan know the quality of the graduate. I know a few people who transfered to U of M engineering ( top 10 in the nation) who say it is easier or just as difficult there. It will all pay off when you get promoted before the other EE who went to the easy well known school because you have a stronger work ethic and are more knowledgeable in the field because of the more rigorous program.

Please don't listen to all the idiots complaining that GVSU is not a party college. If you want to pay $10,000 a year to party then go to WMU or Arizona State. I really can't believe that people are rating a school based on how easy it is to find a party. You can go to any college campus in America and find a party, that isn't the point of going to college. You guys are watching too many movies to have the expectation that college is ONLY about partying. I'm sure that these party first students are going to be very valuable members of society. The criticism of the on campus housing being a dead zone for drinking is also ridiculous, the on campus housing is mainly for freshmen and sophomores, you know people under 21 in the first place? I am 21 and I live in the off campus apartments at 48 West. There are several off campus apartments near the school and they obviously don't follow the same policy that the school does, you can do whatever you want to (within reason).
