I love this school. I am extremely happy with my decision to come here. Its becoming one of the top schools in the State of Michigan and just keeps gaining more and more respect each year along with more and more students now topping over 24,000 strong. According to a survey done recently GVSU was the second hardest public university to get into in Michigan based on average ACT and high school GPA behind U of M Ann Arbor. Go Lakers!

Just because the tuition is cheaper does not mean that the education quality is any lower. I am very close to a lot of Calvin College students and as far as we could see, the classes were exactly the same just a ton cheaper. Great value!

I love this school. The rumors about no social life are not true at all, those people are lazy and to shy to go do something. Academics are great and with the average class size being 26 students, you get the feeling that your professor cares about you personally.

Going into Grand Valley I had heard a lot of things like "Its boring there, everyone goes home on the weekends" and so forth. This is not true. The majority of the people on campus or in off campus apartments stay here. Yes a large chunk of people go home, but is that really different from any other university? People do want to go home every once in a while and I do not see why Grand Valley is singled out in this when people talk about it. As to the weekend and night life here, if you cant find something to do or a party to go to there is something wrong with you or you are socially incapable. I have not had a boring week or weekend here yet. No, Grand Valley may not have the party scene caliber of Michigan State or Central Michigan, but there are plenty of parties always going on, big or small. The football games and basketball games are a blast, especially since our football team is just boss and basically whoops every team they play by 30+ points. The academics here are considered to be equal if not greater to that of Michigan State and I would have to agree. I have friends at State and we compared our homework and workload we had since we were taking similar classes and it is very comparable in difficulty. I was accepted to both Grand Valley and MSU and chose Grand Valley because of all the good things I heard about this university, and I am not looking back, I am sure I made the right choice and I love it here!
