The school has gone through a lot of "growing pains" since it has become a part of ferris State. Some of it is good and some bad. The facilities are better enhanced since Ferris became a part of the institution but the quality of students seems to be lacking a bit in recent years. It seems like anyone who applies can get in and it wasn't like that before.
The school is more "business oriented" than a lot of art and design colleges I've visited. there is a nice (but small) student gallery with shows all the time. The main gallery gets a decent amount of interesting work.
Faculty is very easy to sit down with and talk to about and problems, advice, or concerns that one may have. The administration office less so...
People are friendly and it's easy to make friends and have interesting discussions with fellow students. However, there isn't a lot of interaction between different departments.
The weather and climate is great in the Summer but the Winters can be quite harsh being off the coast of the Great Lakes. If you're into sports there are a lot of things to do any time of year but there are only a few intramural sports clubs.
The city is very safe for its size and there are a lot of clubs, bars, coffeehouses, bookstores, etc. very near the college. Housing is fairly affordable but you have to know where to look. I never lived in the dorms but I hear they are nice, yet pretty pricey. If I were an incoming freshman I'd look to find a roommate who was interested in getting an apartment rather than the dorms. | Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Campus Aesthetics: C

| Average | Most teachers helpful and knowladgable, the few that aren't, are very distracting from the greater goal of profissional work. I view as over priced | Perceived Campus Safety: A-, Extracurricular Activities: F | | | |

KCAD as good an experience as you make it. Not cheap.
Grand Rapids is a small/medium sized town. Safe town. Area has some growing businesses. Housing mid-ranged $. What else... KCAD specializes in art and design. Most other pursuits ie: english/ history/ sciences are limited. | Preparedness: A, Reputation: B
