Bright
Limited Parking:
-Very little parking, going rate is $1.60/hr
-parking tickets are the norm, $15-$25
Housing is limited off campus:
-Apartments are far and you have to bus into school
-Houses are old and are almost all are over seen by the same company (high priced monopoly)
There is very little to do around town if you don't drink.

Super Brilliant
Michigan State is strictly a school for kids who couldn't get admitted to the University of Michigan. I transferred to U of M, and never regretted it.

Not so bright
I am seeking a second degree in the Accelerated Option BSN program at MSU in Nursing. My previous undergrad was from Purdue University in Indiana. The experiences in themselves have been total opposites. Despite having similar numbers of students, I find the students at MSU are much more arrogant, close-minded, and cold to newcomers than the students at Purdue were . There is an expectation that for showing up or turning in something, you should get a 4.0. The nursing department and the university itself are highly disorganized, with no one ever seeming to have the answer you need. Anytime you call with a question you are transferred 14 different times, don't even bother emailing... You'll never hear back. The university truly treats you as a number and not as a human being. At Purdue, an immediate family member died and I received 2 letters from the school expressing condolences and offering resources. Nothing like that would EVER happen at MSU. All the University cares about is how much money is coming out of your bank account and coming into theirs. They nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING. Parking is hell on earth and god forbid your meter ever run out, the parking nazis are right there to give you a ticket. The local scene is okay, but small and mundane. The campus itself is gorgeous, but you can easily get lost due to it's massive size. Going here has hardly been worth the money. The experience has been lack luster and not worth the stress. I am sure that it will look good on my resume, but to tell you the truth, if I were to do it over again, I'd go anywhere but here...
