Saginaw Valley tries to get you to come because of the new dorms. It is bull. You have no freedom more than 4 people in your room you will have the police at your door. This is a commuter college which I didn't know and if you live on campus everyone goes home on the weekends because it is so boring and campus police is so strict. We went to a party off-campus even and the police followed us there. So don't intend on drinking in college even if you are 21 because they make you get a permit for that and limit how much you can drink! Teachers are nice but everyone goes to class and doesn't talk, it is really hard to make friends. Save your money go to community college and go to a better university.

I was a poli sci major at first then switched to Comp Sci. Let me say this outside a few great profs who care about their students and will work with you (provided you want to work) most of the profs are arrogant and self centered and have a God complex. They think that you are only taking their class and have nothing else to do though out the day, some will treat you like crap if you need any form of help. Housing is a joke they don't care about the students only their money. Over the summer they took out the land line phones from the dorm rooms (note: cell reception is known to be spotty)good luck if you need to call 9-1-1 (also campus crime is/was rising before they took the phones out). Some buildings are infested with ants which they blame the students (and are going to start giving students fines for) for yet maintenance said that there are cracks in the foundation which is the cause of the ant problems. Housing also makes a ton of choices that show they don't care about students such as a new policy telling upper classmen sucks to be you (now even in upper classmen housing sophomores and freshmen have the first chance, not a lot of choices for off campus living also), when students confronted housing about it they were told that students are too stupid to make choices on their own. In sort DO NOT GO look elsewhere, you go in to debt to pay them for an eduction and all you get is to be treated as an idiot.

Overall SVSU is a pretty good school. The thing about SVSU is it's small. I didn't come to SVSU to party get drunk and go out every night so I feel pretty good here. The police force is everywhere and you have to go off campus to drink. I choose SVSU because it is a school where my main focus will be my education. Yes, there may not be crazy all night parties but I can stay focused. The food is sub-par the staff at the food place are TERRIBLE nothing is ever stocked and I have to walk across the cafeteria to get forks because they never keep up with the dishes. A lot of the time the food staff is lazy and hardly tries to make a decent meal. The classes are reletivaly challenging and I enjoy going to class. Overall I would say SVSU is a good school to go to , stay focused, and get your job done.
