As is typical of large universities, students willQuite BrightLinguistics
As is typical of large universities, students will experience UM in proportion to the effort they invest. There is no shortage of opportunity, whether academic, cultural, or social, such that all but the most insular or painfully shy individual will be able to find what he or she requires to succeed in and out of school. So the beauty of Michigan is that everything is within your grasp; the downside is that "everything" really is comprehensive. You can meet arrogant, spoiled rich kids, hyper-competitive rivals, slackers, party freaks or you can enjoy many welcoming, kind, intellectually curious, and appropriately hard-working, socially normal folks.

For me, though, Ann Arbor is the icing on the cake - or maybe the second layer. While not the most diverse city around, is is relatively progressive, with a good mix of midwestern and east/west coast values. There is as much culture as you'll find in much larger places, a commitment to the environment, and plenty of recreational venues. All in all, a great university, but not for the passive.

Question
I'm almost done with my first year atBrightNursing
I'm almost done with my first year at UMich and I absolutely love this school. I wouldn't change my decision to come here even if I could go to my second choice for free. The students (for the most part) are nice, have more school spirit than you can imagine, and know how/like to have fun. Everyone here is motivated which forces you to be productive. But once the sun goes down, you can expect to have more parties than you can count on both hands. There is always something to do no matter what you are into. I did not join Greek Life and I have not once had a hard time finding something to do at night. I would advise applying/coming to this school because it will be the best four years of your life, all the while you are getting one of the best educations in the world. Be open to meeting new people and trying new things. Great people, great place. Forever go blue!!!!

Question
The University of Michigan is a great placeQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
The University of Michigan is a great place to attend. The University provides mostly high-quality facilities (some are world-class), a wide variety of excellent resources, and intelligent faculty. There is a fantastic combination of school work, extracurricular work, social activity, sports, cultural opportunities, and delicious food. Above all, the people here seem to value intellectually focused conversations more than other institutions that I have visited. Ann Arbor is a vibrant, exciting place to live as well.

Inevitably, there are drawbacks. It seems that University is fairly restricting at times. There are a lot of requirements, which does not fit well for all students. Furthermore, it is helpful if one feels comfortable reaching out to people and resources around them (these skills, however, are developed in time). There are people willing to help if you reach out to them. Furthermore, it seems that the University makes it difficult to study abroad relative to other institutions, particularly if one is majoring in business. Lastly, the grading seems to be a poor reflection of one's ability to utilize and understand the class material. There are sometimes curves that are difficult to compete with. This, however, should not intimidate you, as these are common grading problems across many institutions.Overall, the University of Michigan is a great place to go to college.
