College was an incredible experience.PreLaw and Legal
College was an incredible experience. And while I learned a lot in class, the bulk of class was random facts that I forgot shortly after the semester was over (though I must admit I retained more than I thought I ever would). More important is that I learned how to analyze, read critically, write more effectively, and figure out what was expected of me. Those are life skills. I have to say that I learned more outside of the classroom than in lecture or section. So my advice would be just let yourself experience college, and get involved with a lot of different extracurriculars...but don't slack either!

Question
UMich is an excellent place with a lotPsychology
UMich is an excellent place with a lot of great opportunities available. They are not obvious, however, when you're just walking in as a first year. This is particularly true of social science students, many of whome aren't looking for research or clinical careers, and whose ostensible purpose for the university is to pay tuition and fund research. If you want to get ahead and go to grad school, initiative is key. Seek out faculty who will advise you, research assistantships, community outreach stuff, anything you can find, and be aggressive about it. The university will not hand you opportunities; some would say they don't even care what happens to you when you get out. Individual faculty, however, can be convinced to care; it's all about your own initiative.

Question
They promise much and deliver little, once youQuite BrightPhysics
They promise much and deliver little, once you matriculate, you might as well forget having any sway over your own life. Many professors are good, many are bad, most are severely cramped by a Federal Government-esque beaurocracy. Most of the students are rich, snobby, and not nearly as smart as they think they are (they'll be good GSIs some day). The reputation of this place is based on its graduate program. To get much of anything out of undergrad here, all I can say is play, play, PLAY.
