Western Michigan University is not hell on Earth for eveQuite BrightEducation
Western Michigan University is not hell on Earth for everyone. But for me it is. I want to be as objective as possible when I say that this university is not for the serious student. IT IS NOT FOR THE SERIOUS STUDENT, or anyone who wants a LEARNING experience. I constantly felt out of place because I wasn't in to the party scene because most of the students who enjoy this university enjoy it for that reason alone. You do not have to take academics seriously at this school; I hardley worked for my 4.0 and was not challenged by the work, rather, I was annoyed by my work, which was usually ill suited for learning purposes. The student body at Western is very adolescent in its behavior and approach to life. They are trendy, clique-ish, and defensive unless you are willing to fall in line with their "go with the flow" outlook (kinda ironic eh?). If you plan on taking academics seriously you will find you experience at Western very painfull!

Question
For you people that are downing the universityQuite BrightEducation
For you people that are downing the university are new to the school what did you expect at a State University and not your local community college. Guess what kiddies it is time to grow up and welcome your self to the real world where it takes your drive and will to suceed not depending on someone else to just hand it to you.

Question
Western Michigan University is a great school.Education
Western Michigan University is a great school. They are not UofM or MSU but they don't pretend to be either. The greek community is very strong and all the sporting events are free to students, so there is always something to do. The campus is well-maintained and the tech infrastructure is great. WMU offers a 'webkit' that allows off-campus users (or just lazy students who don't want to leave the dorms) the ability to dial up and access the web, email accounts (free thru the school) and the WMU library all on line for free! That's right, no need to pay for AOL, if your a student- WMU will set you up. I was able to research entire papers, using journal article and other online date, without ever leaving my room. And, if you have to get a book, you can check the online card catalog to see if its in (and reserve if need be) before you head out to the library.
