| M ACALESTER's
academic program is one of the top twenty in the
country, noted by US News and World Report.
Students come from all 50 states and over 80 countries
to share in an educational experience that is characterized by
rigorous scholarship, collaboration, a global perspective and purposeful attention to
teaching. Located in a comfortable residential neighborhood, convenient to the
cultural richness of two of America's most vibrant cities, Macalester offers unusually braod and accessible opportunities for research and internships.
Macalester teams frequently qualify for the International Collegiate Programming Contest
and recently tied with Stanford, Columbia, Carnegie-Mellon and Harvard. The debate program has been nationally ranked among the top
ten for decades. Each year Macalester students win an
impressive number of post-graduate awards, including Fulbright Scholarships, National Science
Foundation Graduate Fellowships and more. Graduates also fare well in the job market and graduate programs. The pre-med advisor
notes that “Macalester students are courted by top med schools
and graduate programs.” One recent graduate reports from UCLA that she was “accepted into top med school choices:
Mayo, Stanford, UCLA and Minnesota” and another that he had
a “striking advantage over many other candidates” and is now
enrolled in the PhD program in economics at Princeton University.
More than ever a Macalestet education provides the best (and
most practical) skills because of two important changes affecting our
economy—rapid technological change and globalization. Macalester cultivates the ability
to succeed in a work environment defined by new challenges
and change. And Macalester graduates enter the work force
with real experience in a global community. Location/Contact MACALESTER COLLEGE
