 | Bright | The U of M Morris was my last choice. I was planning on going to my first choice, then a month before the semester started I found out I did not get housing (Pontifical University of Puerto Rico, they only had 60 rooms). The day I got to Morris, I knew I was in big trouble. Everyone was super weird. I was sitting in my room the first night, and this kid just came running in and insisted that everyone "do a 24 hour play". It just got worse from there. My RA is probably the most annoying person I've ever met. She always walks around and asks everyone "how their life is". It's just like, back off mom. Ok, and everyone needs to know that I am seriously like one of the happiest, most positive people in the world. I am rarely negative, but U of M Morris just push my buttons. I remember one day when my next door neighbor (both girls) forgot their keys to the door. The started throwing things at my window to get my attention, but I had headphones on. They finally got let in, and they both came to my door and told me they thought I was an arrogant jerk and a rich-boy. I yelled at them to get out. So then, like five minutes later my RA comes flapping in, and tells me, quote, "There is not reason in the world that you should take your own life." Everyone here is like, super emotional, all they want to talk about is their wacko opinions and emotions and their experience in highschool theatre and speech. No one studies, but then gets mad when they get bad grades. The profesors are smart and know what they're talking about, but seriously, the every other aspect of this school sucks. There is no place to buy anything other than Pamida, and everything there costs about double WalMarts price. The town is the most boring place I've ever been, and that's saying something, because I'm from a suburb of St. Paul. The majority of the students are obsessed with talking about how bad popculture is and how stupid the world is. However, no one does anything about anything. They all sit up here in western Minnesota, complain about Hollywood and Hollister are the devil and how they were so great in speech in highschool. No one EVER wants to play sports or do anything remotely physical, and barely anyone parties. The majority of the students here are the theatre kids from highschool who just reject and hate anyone who dared to play a sport or wear Hollister. U of M Morris gets 0 out of 10 and a big F from me. | Friendliness: B-, Education Quality: F | | | |

| Bright | | This school was challenging and prepared me well for graduate school. The professors are nothing short of outstanding. They knew me by name, and were approachable, friendly, and provided an excellent mentor relationship. The coursework was innovative and my major was particularly writing- and research-intensive. My classes were small, most with under 20 students. Since the University itself is small, it is easy to make a name for yourself on campus. Students saying there is nothing to do but drink are, frankly, lazy. Though the town itself, of course, lacks a thriving nightlife, students with "nothing to do" aren't trying very hard. While I attended Morris, I saw excellent concerts on campus. Maya Angelou spoke one year. Plays, ballets, speakers, and comedians were frequent options. Most every night you could find something to do on campus. Residence hall staff provided weekday and weeknight programs. There are hundreds of campus clubs and organizations. Will Morris be a big change for city kids? Yup. But the university is absolutely worth it, and if you want to stay busy and entertained, you can easily do so. Bottom line: my time at UMM was one of the best times at my life. I am fortunate to have received such a top-rate education and I will be thrilled if my children choose Morris. You simply cannot beat the academics and the small-college atmosphere of UMM. | Education Quality: A+, Social Life: C | | | |

| Bright | Truthfully, I was admitted but I chose not to go to UMM. Why? The idea of an almost-empty town and the poor facility doesn't satisfy me. And plus, they don't have no scholarships for international students. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Surrounding City: D+ | | | |
