When I first entered this school I was excited, but once you're in the program and actually see how things are you have a whole different perspective. Teachers will leave you half way through the class term. Clinical hours are horrible 12 hour shifts 3 days a week plus school time. 12 hour shifts 3 days a week is FULL TIME working at a hospital, most of the time at the hospital you are taking on your preceptors work load. So your working full shifts for free, I wouldnt mind it being 8.5 hour shifts 2 days a week like SJVC "San Joaquin Valley College." On one of our clinical sites we had a student that came from SJVC and that school is a whole lot better then concorde. Not only do they seem more educated but they get Littman stethescopes while we get stuck with the cheap $15 ones and they also get laptops. In my opinion if I could I would leave concorde and go to another school like SJVC or ACC. ACC only does 12 hour shifts 2 days a week.

I am a MA student at Concorde Career Institute in Jacksonville, FL almost done and on to externship. Up until career services, my time at CCI was a positive one. I believe the course work was right on point and the instructors know their stuff. I am a staight A student and what they say a "lamplighter", pretty much as high as you can get. Well, not so helpful when dealing with career services. They are not helpful at all, they stick you where ever they are rubbing elbows with the Drs it doesn't matter how crappy the physicians office may be. Other friends experiences have been they do not help out or keep in contact with you on externship. Concorde has been around in this area for 40 years and has an awesome reputation. The career services department is not reflecting this reputation that this facility has. Very dissapointed in my very expensive choice I made to go here.

I was recently enrolled in the dental assisting progam at the Portland,Oregon campus. It was a great program, but after starting it, I soon realized that working in someone elses mouth was not for me. I withdrew from the program with hopes of getting into the LPN program. I was told that I would be considered a "re-entry",and that I could expect to wait up to two years for an open spot int the LPN program. Very discouraged, I was talked into joining the medical assisting program instead. What a nightmare! The teacher and students were nice, but they throw in a class with preexisting ma students, who tell you that it is their responsiblity to teach you everything. The instructor steps back, lectures straight out of the book. I can read the book...why am I paying thousands of dollars for all of this? Anyway, I could not afford to waste my time or money in that situation. I withdrew PERMANENTLY from the school. They say you have 5 days to withdraw from any program and won't be responsible for financial aide. That is not true. I went through a whole semester of dental assisting ,and had a balance to the school of $176, which I paid off. Now they are telling me that I owe the school $700 for three days of medical assisting. I don't think so! And when I tried to meet with their career services person, she made me wait 45 minutes, then when she finally took back to her office she told me that I didn't have what it takes to be a LPN ,and that I wasn't strong enough to that. Really???? I left in tears, not too professional! I am very disapointed in this school! I feel that they are money hhungry and don't really care about the students. They are so eager to help you enroll, but it is all down hill after that! And for the record... don't ever let anyone tell you that you are not "good enough" for something! I got accepted to nursing school at another...more professional school . I am considering legal action at this point. Please be responsible and research a school before you enroll and are miserable!!
