Not so bright
Though I had several great teachers in my department, my overall experience with the college was negative. Some of the instances that stand out in my mind are the time that my (heterosexual) roommate got a call from the Dean of Students saying someone had accused her of kissing another girl outside our dorm. My roommate was very distressed by the accusations, which underscored the college's extremist views on homosexuality. There was the sense that your every move was being scrutinized. For example, during freshman orientation week, the group I was in performed in the "talent show" and was later reprimanded by the college administration for choosing songs that were too "suggestive." The song in question was by a certain Sir Mixalot. A few years after graduation, I learned from one my teachers that one professor was let go for being critical of Fox News. The student creative arts publication was permanently banned by the administration for publishing a creative work containing a common curse word. Additionally, two of the professors from my department were let go after they were accused of being Marxists (I knew both professors, and they were not at all Marxist.)

If you dont agree with the rules and values of this college, then DONT go! It is one of the few places left that holds to its mission statement.

I attended 4 years and graduated without any problems.
Most negative reviews are from students who couldn't even suck it up for one year. Nearly all the people that I graduated with that actually stayed four years and received a diploma would have positive comments.

Those who hated it after 6 months are the same people that hate any authority in their lives.
Yes there are rules such as no drinking, yes there are curfews, and yes there are dress standards that must be followed. Who cares? It's not that hard to follow. Anyone with half a brain can understand the reasoning for the policies and abide by them.

The work stations are easy. It's even fun. Once again those that complain about working 15 hours a week are the same people who are going to simply break down and cry once they are in the quote real world. I'm graduated now and have to work 60hrs a week just to pay bills! So like I said, not a big deal, and actually the work experience can be helpful with some employers.

Overall I would recommend College of the Ozarks. You can learn a lot if you apply yourself and you'll make some lifetime friends too.

My advice: If you're looking for college as an 'escape' from the 'rules' of your parents, as a place to 'party' it up, then this probably won't be a good fit. You'll most likely be expelled in the first 6 months and then have the opportunity to post a negative review on this website.
