All my life I have loved Fashion Design. When Lindenwood offered me a good scholarship, had a fashion program, and was close to home I decided it was where I was going to go. I was so young and naive and I didn't research schools enough. Florence Dewan is the department head of LU's fashion program, and she teaches most of the classes. She is by far the WORST professor I have ever encountered. There is really no hope for the Lindenwood fashion program as long as she is still teaching. Florence is extremely unprofessional. She really never teaches anything, and I think it is because she herself doesn't know anything about sewing or fashion. The grades are based on how much she likes you, and she is highly racist. Florence sets different standards for different students, and is impossible to talk to rationally about anything. I am being completely honest to say I can not think of a single fashion major who would say Florence is a good professor. I could go on and on about all the horrible things she has done, but all I can do is encourage you to never enter in the Lindenwood program if Florence Dewan is still a professor. Lindenwood has some other problems too, but most of the other majors are pretty decent that I know of. I have also made a lot of really close friends here.

Before I came here, i read all of these reviews and decided that i would try it out and maybe they werent all legitimate. I was very wrong. Ive had problems with this school even before i came here. The business office is full of the most rudest, meanest people i have ever met. All but two of my teachers couldn't care about my situtions of illnesses and family problems. And the school lied to me. The reason i came here is because i wanted to major in fashion design and i lived in kansas and wanted to be closer to it. It looked really good and i thought i would give it a shot. The school told me that they were giving me a scholarship of 5000$ plus a grant of 4000$ and work and learn program of 2400$. It meant that i could take out the loans and be covered. I asked them during a visit what that five thousand dollars was for and they told me it was for my community work , my leadership and my activities. So i signed that papers, took out the loans, and went to my classes. I found out later that i could take out another loan based on my moms denial for a parent plus loan and get 4000$, so i took that out too hoping i could get books and supplies. I went to see the financial aid and business office every day to make sure everything was okay and gave them necessary paperwork. One day i called and loans were processed, so i went to fill out a refund paper. They looked at me weird, but gave it to me. I dediced later to call them and found out that i still owed 3000$ dollars. I was very upset and went to talk to them figuring out that they lied to me and told me that the $4000 grant was part of my $5000 scholarship. And they reduced my fafsa grant when they turned in papers and even with extra 4000$ loan i owe 3000$. I went to my business rep. and she rudely told me that " some kids pay more and i need to start paying." On top of this crisis, i have illnesses and no health insurance so i get violently ill some days. My teachers usually dont care and the attendance policy is a hassle. In my fashion classes If you miss more than 3 days, you drop a letter grade. Also, fashion students spend hours and hours literaly working on projects in the studio and get harassed all the time by security officers and other officials. People scream and yell at us asking why we are in here and who let us in.(security did...)And if you dont finish your projects you get many points taken off. The only time i had to work was on the weekends in the cafeteria, but i got to sick and weak to work in it making me even more with debt. At the end, this school made me really depressed and upset. I wanted more from this school, but I was severly dissapointed along with many others. Some students okay here, but i really hope you dont take the chance like me and deal with what i had to.

Lindenwood University is a beautiful campus located right in the middle of St. Charles, MO (about 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis).

The faculty here are extremely focused on student sucess and are willing to meet with students at any time during the day to help them with things they do not understand.

Practically every student on campus is receiving some financial aid or scholarship. I personally have never seen a campus so set on student sucess.
