I am so grateful for Stephens.Quite BrightEnglish
I am so grateful for Stephens. It is a college that finds a brilliant balance between challenging students and allowing students to be independent. I will always treasure the time that I had at Stephens - for countless reasons. It is a beautiful campus with rich history, and the people are vibrant and talented. This is a college with soul. This is a college that cares. This is a college that gives students a great education while allowing them to become confident and well-rounded people beyond the cookie-cutter. Plus, you get all of the benefits of one-on-one attention in class with the fun, full university feel (because of MU) on the town; Columbia is awesome.

Food is awful and expensive and automatically added to your tuition, no choice. My bathroom didn't work the entire last semester that I was there. I was paying extra for a suite (semi-private) bathroom, but still had to use the guest bathroom in the lobby every day. Facilities said it was "bad plumbing", left it at that. When the person upstairs flushed, my closet door would fly open and the walls rattled from the plumbing. A JOKE! Refused to return my pet deposit because they said there were stains on the floor, the same stains that were there BEFORE I moved in and pointed it out to them at that time also. $80+ dollars for a parking pass, but no parking spaces, you still end up parking on the street! Doggie daycare, just the people working their with their pets, you can't never get in. You can't get your mail before 10 am. And 1 hour into food service, they are already out of the horrible food that they serve. Save your money. Once you say you are going to transfer, you are blacklisted by everyone, suddenly no one knows your name. Transferred to a less expensive college with better scholastic organization and appreciation of the students, aka their money train!

Question
Where to begin.Quite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
Where to begin. Honestly, this school is a bit of mess, kind of in shambles. For starters, the registrar here is COMPLETELY inept. I am currently in the process of trying to transfer away from this college due to how horrible it is, and the registrar lacks the ability to send my transcript via the common application despite the fact that Stephens USES the common app. I applied to Stephens using it! I don't understand why they can't scan my transcript into a PDF and upload it to send it there. Instead they mail it, which is inefficient and undesired.

The financial aid office isn't helpful either. If they need to speak with you, they send you an email saying you must be in their offices that day between a certain time or faces severe charges to your account. They don't give you forewarning or consider the fact that you might have class at that time, they give you an ultimatum. Why would they email you the day of? Without warning or thought for your own time constraints? This whole administration is disorganized.

The food service is terrible. Very few vegetarian options, inedible meat options, just gross. Nothing to eat, I am constantly hungry.

Facilities is slow to repair anything. There are four severe leaks in my building that they refuse to attempt to fix despite the growing damage they cause.

Some of the professors are sweet and smart and great, but a great many are selfish, ignorant, biased, and again, inept.

I get all A's here, I am a good student, so I am not just some person feeling jilted here. This college seriously needs to get it together. Their retention rate is very low and the registrar being idiotic makes it near to impossible to leave.

The security here is really good though. That I will say. Also, the community views Stephens as a women's college that churns out astounding feminists and I for one can tell you, there are few feminists on campus, women's studies is only offered as a minor, and even then, because so few people sign up for those courses, they are most often cancelled, which makes the minor near to impossible to fulfill. If you are interested in women's studies, don't come here. Many of the girls here are sexist and unaware.
