The school's campus is nice. The plus side to going to such a small school is the short walk to each class. The Faculty, or at least professors I've had, were all helpful and friendly. The downside to this school would have to be some of the other students. If you're not out partying at Mizzou on the weekends then there is a good chance you won't be doing too much. This school can be slightly cliquey at times, it's best to try and meet people right from the start and become involved in groups. Overall, the academics at this school are decent and Columbia is a beautiful city with plenty of shopping and entertainment.

I attended Stephens in the late 70's. I think Stepehens was at its prime then. Many of the historic buidlings I knew are gone, a parking lot is in the place they once stood. There were over 2000 students then, Many more courses were available. The cafeteria served 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. Sadly. it is not the same today.

My experience at Stephens spanned two different decades. I attended initially in the mid 80's, then returned in the early 2000's to finish the degree. I was nutured, encouraged, and academically challenged. I was in classes with engaging students. Stephens is a better school than when I started.

As an alumna I've seen the college endure a LOT of challenges. No matter what I felt about the administration though, I always loved the students, and especially my friends who I grew to accept as family while I attended as a young woman.

Stephens, is a special place, and like any place will become what the student wishes. The dorms have been renovated, alumnae are giving, and alumnae are successful women, who are always happy to lend a hand to another alumna.

I've been through 25 years with this institution in many forms, and overall, I would recommend it to anyone. The dorms are better than you would find at ANY large institution, and certainly for the tuition. Who wouldn't want hardwood floors and cable? Food is good. The instructors are caring people.
