| | | | | | Jackson State University is the only HBCU with a School of Public Health in the southern region. This is a new area for JSU and the acceptance from the community has been overwhelming. Students from all disciplines (i.e., nursing, dentist, doctors, community educators, etc.) are enrolled in the school. The staff is courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, resourceful, and more importantly accessible. While in the past, the university has been plagued by negative connotations, the current administration is has implemented several measures to make the faculty and staff more efficient and geared toward student satisfaction. JSU is rich with history about our ancestors. I believe that if students take the time to understand where this university has evolved from, and then they could appreciate it more. JSU is more than just the football team or the band; it is the Margaret Walker Alexander’s, the Dr. John A. Peoples’, and the Rod Paige’s (U.S. Secretary of Education) who are our success stories. Although others may disagree, I believe that JSU is the best college not only in the SWAC, but also in the land.. | | Sep 18 2003 | Public Health | | |
