The
Honors Program provides an opportunity for students of outstanding ability
to pursue an advanced course of study which would ordinarily
not be available. In the spring of their junior year
and the fall of their senior year, honors students carry
out a research project of their choice under a professor’s
direction. The project’s final product, consisting wholly or partially of
a written thesis, is presented before a panel of faculty
members. In the spring of the senior year, students participate in an interdisciplinary colloquium that intensively examines a topic of
broad interest. Students successfully completing all phases of the Honors
Program receive the designation “with honors” in their field of
honors work at graduation. Students interested in participating in the
Honors Program should consult with the program director in the fall of their junior year.
