If you are raised in the south, likes to party, and a die hard football fan, then Ole Miss is for you. I love the campus and yes the girls can be rich girls with their daddy's money but after a while you get to know them more for what they appear to be. I personally love Ole Miss and I really do not want to leave. I strongly suggest for any high school seniors to take a day trip and visit this school.

Quite Bright
I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years at Ole Miss. I was from the North and wasn't sure what to expect. I loved the social aspects as well as the course work. The campus is the most beautiful campus I've ever seen. The heritage and tradition is unlike any other. Yes there are typical southern frat boys and bleach blond girls but take that all with a grain of salt. I loved my sorority without becoming a stepford girl. I have since gone on to develop a great career and and ending my Master's work at another (local) university.

Not so bright
Ole miss is a beautiful campus which boasts strong educational programs. However, the teachers and structure of classes is one of the worst I have seen in any university. The engineering school is a joke. The kids in the program dont care about learning engineering at all, and the quality of the program seems catered around that.

The university is constantly out there to get your money. They have a ridicoulus parking system which they are trying to reform. It will cost you hundreds of dollars. I have never seen a University which has no parking lot for kids to park at the cafeteria. They will slap a $45.00 ticket on your car even if you try to park there. Extremely inconvient.

There is a strong drug presence at the school and it shows. Be prepared to be isolated if you dont smoke weed etc. You are surrounded by it. The university is truly clueless is to why this is a problem and they have no imitative to do any thing about it. The dorms constantly smell like dope and nothing is ever done about it.

The classes are horrible. I am taking 18 hours and I have one teacher that speaks English. The rest I need a translator for. The classes are babied down and in no way do I feel like im getting a good education. I spent alot of money and time at this school and I can honestly say for the first time in my academic career i have learned nothing. The school is more focused on there partying and sports than they are hiring good professors and making sure the curriculum is adequate.

The greek system is very big at ole miss and the social scene revolves around it. So, if you dont plan to rush, dont go to ole miss as you will hate it. They have hardly any organiziations for kids who are independent.

The school is really confused on what it wants to be. It has deep roots in the south and is a big party school. The current administration is trying to change it to a multi cultural research center which its not. If you are looking at ole miss to have a good time you got the right place. If you are interested in becoming an engineer or any other major that will feed you this school is a joke and a huge waste of time and money.
