 | Quite Bright | If you're desperate to go to school at the beach, just save yourself the antisocial misery and move to Wilmington and go to Cape Fear. Morehead City is a miserable existence and the school doesn't even offer an auto program... Don't waste your time here unless you want to be a nurse or do hair. Plus all the women are married or pregnant. Discouraging to young male students. | Campus Maintenance: A+, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | | This is by far the worst educational institution I have attended. They might as well call it a circus based on the number of hoops you have to jump through just to enroll in courses! My husband and I both attend through distance learning - I have been dropped from my classes but not "dropped". In other words the class did not appear on my transcript or schedule at the end of the semester even though I had "attended" every class during the semester and earned an "A". When I asked why the class did not appear on my transcript I was told because I had been "dropped" in February for not paying, when in fact the institution had issued me a refund incorrectly. After several discussions with the registrar the class was finally added to my transcript. My husband was the first on a wait list for a class and was added when another student failed to pay, only to be purged himself without even being given the opportunity to pay. There are now 7 students ahead of him on the waitlist, and his class schedule has been wiped out even though we have payed for 7 credits. Every semester there is some problem which involves several phone calls, emails, and visits to the campus where we are usually sent from office to office being told that so and so can help you and then on to the next so and so, half the time to end up where we started. Both my husband and myself have bachelors degrees from well known universities, so we should be able to negociate a community college - steer clear of this one, definately bottom of the barrel. | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | The faculty in the Photography department was fabulous; they are very knowledgable & helpful, also very friendly. It was a great experience in that regard. However, the administrative aspects of this school leave a lot to be desired. Now that I'm ready to go back to school to finish my bachelor's, it has been quite an experience attempting to get my transcripts sent out to my new school of choice. After receiving an extremely rude attitude from the lady whose job this is, no transcript was sent. I eventually had to go over her head to her supervisor (also quite a challenge), who advised me that I had an outstanding fee of $4.75 at the bookstore. I was told that once it was clear, he would send my transcript out personally, ASAP. After another month, my new school hasn't received the transcript yet. I called back & again had to fight to speak with this supervisor, who said he would send it out then hung up on me. Since their needless delay caused me not to get accepted for this fall semester, I now must wait til January to go back to school. The most frustrating thing was that an apology was not even offered. I dealt with everyone I spoke with calmly & respectfully, and their attitude was still extremely rude. Sure, when they're trying to get you to come to this school, they all put on a happy face. But when you leave & need certain things from them to attend other schools, watch out... the claws will appear. I am still in schock from the extremely negative and almost juvenile manner in which I was treated. As an added comment, though the photography courses are good, the other required classes (a writing class, math, etc.) are insanely easy, to the point of ridiculous. There are a lot of people who have only a GED, & have elementary-level writing skills, so the class is geared toward them. As I am actually literate, the teacher had to speak with me privately about grading me by a completely different standard than most of the class. Sort of a waste of time, but sadly necessary to graduate. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Social Life: F | | | |
