Terrible ABUSIVE atmosphere w/ verbal abuse (School of Education university employees/staffers/professors) that go ignored and without action. Chancellor is an Uncle Tom who will not end injustices and human rights abuses perpetrated against students. Parents - google this university for crime stats & ask the locals before enrolling YOUR child. Get rid of the bully faculty and staff - this is not BOOT CAMP or SURVIVOR. You should be at a university to help students succeed. I am a college professor NOW after a postgrad degree elsewhere--it is sad that this type of behavior really still exists. I must admit I had a few who appearred to be there just for a pay check, but for the most part they were not that bad. My department advisor was a waste of my time. He truly did not support me or believe in me. There were other instructor?s who did believe in me and there was one in particiular that left a very strong impression on me; Dr. Lawrence. He could be tough, but he was fair. He challenged our mental capacity and force us to think outside the "box"?he did not ?blow smoke,? up our back ends. I appreciated Dr. Lawrence for being hard on us, not given us an inch, but making us earn it. He was always there for support and when you left his class, his office, or the lab following a project or exam; you knew that you came out a little more knowledgeable, regardless of the grade that was earned. So I cannot say that ECSU hurt me at all. I think that I could have been better prepared if most instructors were on the same page in regards to preparing the students for the harsh reality of the real world. There could have been more lessions plans focusing on current job applications and practicies. My recommendation to H.S or college students is to enjoy your time in college but take your time there seriously. Earn the best grades possible, go that extra mile to achieve the best that you can; other works maximize your education opportunities. Preparedness: F, Reputation: F Have a Question? Most classes there are a joke. The financial aid and admissions offices are lazy and treat students like numbers, even though the university is tiny! The clearly are not competent and put random illegitimate charges on accounts in order to take money from the students. Overall, it is disorganized and is not somewhere I'd recommend. The students are great and campus life is not too bad, but the facilitating of the university sucks. Friendliness: B+, Individual Value: F Have a Question? The financial aid department has messed up loans and grants making students lose money they need to cover fees and expenses. Complaints are not followed up. Staff in both of those areas misinform students. There is a big discrepancy in the amount of course work and grading from one instructor to the next for the same course in the general education area. Often blame is passed to students when mistakes are made by the staff. On a lighter note the Art Department staff are excellent. Faculty Accessibility: A+, Individual Value: F Have a Question?
