I was a bright kid who went to a small private school in NC and I thought that college especially engineering would be very difficult even for me. But I soon found that it is not as difficult as I first perceived (although still hard) but definitely worth the money and effort.

Going into a technical field, be sure to get involved in extracurricular activities (student government, intramural sports. fraternity, student union activities committee, arts/music groups) to get a break from studies and to develop character. Don't get too caught up into the type of jobs considered traditional and think outside the box. Key thought - have a strong work ethic to do your best and don't expect others to hand success to you - it has to be earned.

Life at NC State is good. The people all around campus are friendly, and there are plenty of resources for students. While some of the buildings could use a little work, the landscaping on campus is beautiful. Also, Raleigh is an awesome city. Not many cities in the US make for a better setting to spend four years of your life than this place.
