This school is over-hyped as the "Biggest bangQuite Bright
This school is over-hyped as the "Biggest bang for your buck" when (at best) it is a mediocre school. Sure, a beautiful campus, but the curriculum for engineering students s*cks. I double majored in engineering and English, and I found that BOTH departments stink.

I'm an out-of state student. There is NOTHING to do on campus on weekends or after class. You will need an automobile to escape the boredom of campus life. If you walk to the store, you risk the possibility of being mugged and/or shot. Rapes in the women's dormitories are common. Assaults and robberies on-campus are common. Automobile break-ins on campus are so common that the campus police no longer report them. If you want a report of campus crimes, you can't go online to get this info. You must request it from campus police. How stupid is that? This school is relatively cheap. Remember: you get what you pay for. Pass on this dung pile. I will be outta here in September.

I attended UNCC simply because is was close to home and it offered the degree I wanted. I wish I had done more research before I made this decision.

Intro classes are huge ~200 people. You get no attention from the professors. If you are lucky the TA for your small group session is good but this is hit or miss.

As you progress through classes they rarely build on each other well. Communication between professors is poor and coordination between departments is even worse. ie. The math department is never preparing you for anything but a passing a math exam. They aren't concerned if you understand math or not.

The level of instruction across the board is poor. So many of the faculty speak such poor english that just understanding the lecture is a struggle. There has also been a big switch to part-time professors who are difficult to get office hours with and are often terrible instructors. There are exceptions but for the most part you are left to teach yourself the material.

On another note, tuition has been raised in recent years to pay for the new football team. They didn't have football when I first came to the university and that was fine by me. I can't say that having any sports team has improved the quality of my education. If anything it has worsened it.
