Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I was an engineering student.Average
I was an engineering student. The course work was good and i think it is relevant to the job market.
We had a japanese professor who assigned his own grade to content, and then graduate students from the English department assigned a grade. While i can understand the Engineeering department's desire to have the papers graded by the English department, I think that other grad students might have been more helpful. Most of my papers contained erroneous corrections to my grammar, punctuation, etc.. The English grad students did not know what they were doing. Their grading was inconsistent, and their "advice" was often completely wrong. I went to the Writing center for help on several occasions and had really bad experiences with girls who had negative attitudes and were very negative and defensive. It was clear that they were over their heads.Aside from my experiences with writing papers, I think that the coursework in Engineering was excellent.

Very difficult but very good business program. Not only are you taught the material, but you are also taught how to apply it properly. I never thought I would get as much out of a program as I have this one. And, the campus is REALLY starting to look incredible.

Question
Although I am not an English major myBright
Although I am not an English major my primary concern is with my experiences with the English department. I am an American Asian and I was treated by my English teacher as if I was a foreigner. My first semester English composition class was a nightmare. I could not seem to make the teacher understand that I am an American citizen, that I was born here, and that my first language is English.

Granted, I am not the greatest writer on earth, but i am not a D student. I got A and B in English in high school. When I spent a lot of time on my papers, the teacher did not acknowledge the improvement. Instead, my grades dropped. I went to the writing center to get help. Some tutors walked away from me in the middle of the session. Another actually helped me. the outcome? I was accused of cheating. According to the teacher, I had somehow done something wrong, though he never told me what that problem was. I received a D for that class and had to repeat it.

The problem carried over into my major department and I received very bad treatment from my counselor. I was denied entry into my program. I ended up quitting school. I hate that school more than you can imagine. And oh, before I forget, I was treated like a FOREIGNER! All because I am of Asian descent. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE?
