I had a blast last year, and thisBrightUndecided
I had a blast last year, and this year seems even better so far, cause I know more people. I'm in pep band for basketball games - directed by Cory Dover, what a great guy! I'm not a real "partier", but I like meeting new people and getting involved - easy to do at this school, if you get out and try. Highrise dorms aren't totally recommended, but at least they're air conditioned (more than I can say for freshman housing at some other state schools). I'm in a suite this year, which is easy to get into, if you get your housing application in right away. Much better, more elbow room. Classes are good, and it really helps to look at ratemyprofessors.com to pick the best prof's.

I attended UNCC over 20 years ago, andPolitical Science
I attended UNCC over 20 years ago, and when I attended it was a good school.I came from New York and was blown away by the charm and manners of the students and professors.I found the students to be very polite. The quality of the education was good. Generally, it was a positive experience even though I only stayed 1 year-- because of money problems.

Question
Negatives I've seen after my first year here:AverageUndecided
Negatives I've seen after my first year here: too many students go "home" for weekends, so things get a little too quiet sometimes on Saturdays(Can't figure out why they'd want to go home so often! I thought we went "away" to college!) Things would be more lively if everyone stuck around! There are some students with a lot of school spirit, but most are kinda neutral. Also, I think the school is growing too quickly. They should slow admissions down and be more selective. There are really bright students here, but there are too many mediocre ones (not bad students, but... the school has enough to offer that I think they should "raise the bar", making it more competitive school.
