My personal recommendation if you want to go to a local school in the Winston Salem/Greensboro area go to UNC-G. The administrative staff at WSSU is HORRIBLE, especially the Financial Aid Office. They are extremely unhelpful, provide students/parents with NO resources for helping finance your education, their typical reply if you ask for help is "look on the school's website, it has the information you need". But in all honesty the schools' website is poorly put together and none of the Admin offices post information about deadlines or other relevant information students need. The staff in general from Admissions through Financial Aid all have an "I don't give a damn attitude" and they are not there to help the student. I have had to keep on top of people to have normal things done for my education that normal College level staff should know how to do instead of having a student tell them how to do their jobs. Just don't go here, find another school!

Super Brilliant
I think the psychology department was one of the best departments on campus, I hope this department will continue to hold that title but with the new class changes I'm not too sure.I enjoyed my time there and learned everything I believe I need to succeed in graduate school. I graduated early from WSSU and for the most part I had a great experience. Office workers could use improvement, if you need something done at this school you HAVE to stay on them. Great school if your education driven and want to get in and get out, this is not a party school. :-)

As a white male in nursing at a historically black college I was a double minority.I had already obtained my RN at a community college and went to WSSU at a off campus site to aquire my BSN. I was a commuter for my MSN/FNP degree.I was treated with the upmost respect. The Campus was beatiful and well groomed. One thing that WSSU needs to improve on is organization. Always make a copy of anything you turn into anyone.I was a nontraditional student.I have no idea regarding the social scene or dorms, but the classrooms were state of the art. I feel as if I got a quality education at a great price. If had to do it all over again I would.
