 | | | Creighton University seemed like such a good choice for me. A Catholic Jesuit University with prestigous programs in Medicine and Law. I thought that I was going to be happy with my decision. However, I have been extremely disappointed in the University for many reasons. One, I am not Catholic. Since I didn't share the same exact beliefs as my Catholic counterparts, I seemed to be shunned off by certain students and faculty. I'm not saying all of them were this way, but an overwhelming number were. It kind of shocked me because I thought of Catholics as friendly and accepting, which I never felt at all. Also I thought a Jesuit Catholic University was going to provide me with a stimulating, challenging education. Creighton was not up to that standard, but seemed to be slightly above the level of my high school courses. It didn't feel like I was challenged in my beliefs or anything. Many of the professors at Creighton didn't teach me to be a free thinker. I was looking forward to college having professors that made me go above and beyond, make my own mistakes and learn from them. I never felt that here at Creighton. That then brings me to the overall environment of the school. Drab, conservative and boring. No diversity, no variety, nothing. A bunch of Midwest Catholics with a few Catholics elsewhere sprinkled in for good measure. Most come from small towns in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri or South Dakota. No one had a different kind of personality. Everyone just followed everyone. The weekends were a joke. People would either go to "frat parties" (frats and soroities here are a joke) or play video games in the dorm room. No one ever ventured outside, though the city pretty much sucked. There was no real college environment or feeling to it.Overall, after one year at Creighton, I decided to go to a school that was much more diverse, more open in their thinking and had a better college atmosphere. If you are from the Midwest or like the Catholic values in your education, you should check out Creighton. | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | | |

| | Quite Bright | If you are not Catholic, do NOT attend this school. You will be treated very poorly by faculty and even some students. | Campus Maintenance: A-, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Bright | I did not like Creighton University at all. I am from the East Coast and wanted to get away for school and go to a challenging University. From everything I heard Creighton University seemed like a good place to do that. However, I was disappointed in many ways once I attended the University. First off, the diversity of the student body is minimal. Most of the people are Midwestern, white, Catholics from Nebraska, Iowa or Missouri. They are close-minded, clicky and somewhat dull. The academic programs were pretty good, but some of the professors seemed unapproachable. That kind of set me off a little bit. The campus isn't ugly, but it isn't a thing of beauty either. You also have to be careful, the ghetto is right next door and wandering too far off you will be in it before you know it. The weather sucks. Lots of cold, lots of snow, lots of thunderstorms. The social aspect is pretty low. Most students hang out in dorms or go to fraternity parties on the weekends and drink. The fraternities are a joke, they are basically guys paying dues to party. They lack housing and other ammenities typical of fraternities. Omaha isn't a very exciting city. You have the Old Market, the Qwest Center and that's about it. I left after a year and now attend a university more suited to my needs. | Faculty Accessibility: B+, Social Life: C | | | |
