| | Bright | | I attended Creighton University for a hair under 5 years. I graduated with a bachelor of science in atmospheric science. First off, if you are thinking of going into that line of work.....AVOID this institution at all costs. I do understand that much of the department has changed; and the former master chief of the department has left. However, the university's structure will always be the same. Campus life was horrid. If you were either a jock, or an alcoholic; you were in like flint. I was neither....and was treated as an outcast. I, like many others walked to class each day with my head facing the bricks on the mall. I spent most of my days in my dormroom, trying to study over loud music and the stench of pot smoke wafting under my door. I mostly avoided the cafeteria, as I didn't have much to talk about with my fellow, hungover students. That sums up campus life. Academic life.....well, this is a touchy subject. There were a few departments that I actually enjoyed. One in particular was the history department. Everything about this department was excellent. The theology department also gets top ratings. Fantastic professors with free thinking minds; whom appreciated other free thinking minds. That is all. Every other aspect of this university, academically was horrid. The atmospheric science department was headed by a domineering egomaniacal quack. I watched the department go to hell in a handbasket through backdoor politics, false rumors and inflated egos. I also witnessed the few absolutely fantastic professors in the department get booted out the back door of the university through tenure denials and other various forms of career based blackmale. The university would be hard pressed to reveal any of this information to the "applying" public; however, don't be fooled people. This crap happens all the time. Unfortunately I found myself trapped in the politics of this department. I was commissioned through the work study program to be a professor's TA. This was my first mistake. I soon witnessed, and became interwoven in such a tightly woven web of unethical behavior; it was unfathomable. To this day, I still have nightmares about that place. I'm sure if you do a little research you will find whom I refer to as an ego-maniacal quack. The only way I can describe this man is psychologically damaging. He was a pessimist to the bone. If you weren't in his crowd, you were his enemy. His crowd consisted of "A" students and rotc students. If you were neither, you could expect to be treated like yesterday's garbage. This same, bully-like behavior was displayed towards the staff as well. It was an absolutely horrendous display....unfortunately for me, very eye opening......most certainly not what I was paying thousands of dollars per semester to witness. I finished out my remaining semester with my sanity through various self study courses and graduated a semester before the rest of my class. I feel sorry for those whom didn't follow my accelerated path out of that loony bin. Conclusion....If you would like a fun, well organized college experience, don't attend Creighton University. Just do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and avoid it. Just as a previous post has listed, noone outside of the Omaha metro has even heard of the place. Your academics would be better pursued at a local community college. However, if you would like a sad taste of reality, negative attitudes and loads of college debts......by all means, attend Creighton University. Again, please think twice about your college choices. This is a mistake that many people have to live with for many years. Choose your school wisely. Also, remember people; just because a certain institution costs more, does NOT mean it is any better. Seek boundless opinions about your schools of choice. Read the positives and seek out the negative reviews within every inch of your being. I wish I had. Hopefully you do not make the same mistake I did. Good luck. | Useful Schoolwork: C-, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | I went to Creighton University for occupational therapy school. While studying there, I was somewhat disappointed with many aspects of the program. What is worse is that my connection with Creighton has worsened since graduating. I would never recommend anyone to Creighton. I absolutely hate everything about the business department. An error made by the business department lowered my credit score from a 733 to 680. They were not in the least bit apologetic or concerned. I paid 200 dollars for a hood at graduation and never received the hood after graduating. Relatives bought me an engraved plaque for graduation. My name was misspelled and remains unfixed to date after repeated calling. Creighton host lavish parties in "alumni" cities and conveniently did not invite me or my roommates to the open bar function Lastly, I received a call to start donating money 6 months after graduation.CREIGHTON is not the best place while you are there. Once you're out, IT WILL HAUNT YOU FOREVER. | Faculty Accessibility: A-, Useful Schoolwork: D | | | |
