Bright
People are always wary of Dartmouth because of its location... but if you are the type that likes to party, you'll be too busy to notice. People here are genuinely open and compassionate, and there is no cutthroat competition at all. Professors are intelligent, knowledgeable, and best of all, they want to see you succeed and they'll do everything they can to see you get a good grade. People are generally happy, and except for the PreMeds, people generally have little academic stress and pressure. Honestly, I came to Dartmouth thinkink I wanted to transfer out. Now, I don't think I could be happy anywhere else.

Quite Bright
If you are a preppy rich kid from New England (or a similar upperclass community elsewhere in the nation), a female athelete, or success driven yuppy from NYC you will love Dartmouth. Otherwise, do not bother applying.

Super Brilliant
I've only been here for 5 months, yet already it's home and I've a huge number of friends -- I had thought it'd take a while for close friendships to develop, but with a campus this small getting to know people is easy.

There are all sorts of extracurriculars for all types of people, and nobody is stigmatized for any preferences.I used to dislike the small town of Hanover, but then realized that were we situated in the middle of a big city the atmosphere would be worse (plus, it would be hard to get all one's work done). The town is such a college town that you can find a lot of interest there anyways -- the main bookstore has a huge travel, maps, foreign language, philosophy, religion, cultural, and coles notes section, for example.
