What can I say about Denial Webster College? Well, that's not a typo. I'll explain further down. First I'll give you some background. I graduated from highschool in May 2005 and my heart set on a challenging Computer Science degree. I visited the school several times and got a great feel for the people there. The majority are laid back and friendly. On parent's weekend, my folks came up from Massachusettes and we relaxed and watched football with the Dean of Admissions and his family. I can't state how much I like some of the people there. The campus is beautiful - rain or snow or sun - it still amazes me. I knew going in that it was primarily a flight school (Note: If you are a flight student, the flight facilities are great and kids transfer in from the big flight school in florida - I forget the name of it, sorry!) but I did not realize that the Computer Science program wouldn't be as rigorous as they had stated. I was put into Algebra which put me off considering I took calculus in highschool but I was told it was for my own good. Well, I ended that with an average in the high 90's or 100's. I even corrected the professor on many occasions (but don't get me wrong - he's a VERY nice man). Overall, I can't see myself being challenged.
Challenge comes in different forms at DWC than expected. The challenge is not getting sucked into the relaxed atmosphere. People are so relaxed that they forget to do things. Even if you yourself are not relaxed, you have to constantly be on people to get things done which is complicated by the fact that is usually people of higher ranks or people you don't know or haven't even met. I warn people about this because I received a D in a class called "Strategies for Sucess". It's basically an extended orientation taught by a puppet of the person running the class for all the students. It's a lot like a highschool health class. It has that "get it out of the way and do the work" mentality. A lot of the work is actually attending events and doing community service. Keep in mind, this class counts towards your GPA. So come the end of the term, I checked my grades online and found that there was a D in the box for the grade. It was surely a mistake. With 4 days left before school got out, I contacted the person who ran the class who told me to contact the leader of my personal class. Well, it's now Jan 5th and I just got the email that my request to rightfully change a grade due to my teachers error in not counting an activity and another person's error in not reporting any of my 5 community service hours has been denied by the class instructor and the president of the college. That means the D will be the only thing keeping me from having a 4.0 GPA when I return to classes.

My college experience there was very mixed. If you happen to be touring in this spring 2006 semester (my last one at the school), you may very well see my room. My roomate gives tours and our room is often used as an example in freemont. My name is Nick and feel free for the real low-down on Denial Webster College (affraid to admit flight ops is their only major).

My expereince at DWC was very good. The education was good and the campus culture was excellent. I grew a great deal academically and personally in the 4 years that I attended.

I am a computer science major the school itself is very nicely placed in Nashua, New Hampshire. All the professors and students there are friendly and being a small school you get to know many of them. The course work was not what I was expecting I am currently taking 15 credits and none of my classes are that challenging and go at rather a slow pace. For some people that style might be preferred but for me i prefer a fast paced curriculum or else I tend to slack off and lose intrest in class. I am expecting a G.P.A. of about 38-4.0 and I intend to transfer out to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell to purse a double major in electrical engineering and computer science. My reasons for leaving include not being challenged, there aren't many places to learn outside of the classroom, and while a close community there is not much to do. I was hoping to get involved but as a commuter your are somewhat isolated from the rest of the population. But then again this is my experience overall I have nothing bad to say about the school it just wasn't for me part of going to college is going to the school that fits you best not because of the name, or because they give you a certain amount of financial aid. It just depends on what your personality is after coming to DWC for a semester I have realized that I am more of a city person and that a university sized school would be a better fit for me. The point I am trying to stress is to go to the school and see if it's for you. After all school isn't really about the name but rather that it fits you. Also you get what you put in...so the more you put in at any school in general the more you will get out. Oh yeah the facility/maintenance crew is the best.

This school gives you what you put into it. I am a senior in 409. I have busted my ass to get to where I am. I know some people say it is next to impossible to succeed here but you can do it. You have to want to do it. The reason most people dont succeed here is cause they dont put in the effort. However the school is changing. Its becoming an over priced version of ERAU. It is loosing its good Webster characteristics. If I was looking into this school now, I would go to Riddle. The course work is similar prices are the same for tuition and aircraft, although room and board and CFI's are ALOT less. Also this campus is full of fags and other communists who are always preaching true bullshit. The athletics suck here adding to the depresed setting. There are no decent activites unless you enjoy sand art. The social life is drinking yourself stupid on weekends (and you cant buy good beer in NH). Girls dont exist here and the ones that are here are generally prudes or sluts, although there are a few real nice ones, but they make good sisters, not lovers. The biggest thing is that the school is in a big transitional period and untill it figures out what it wants to do, its best to stay away.
