 | Bright | This college is not bad, but there are many close-minded students on campus that just do not care about their priorities and that's a shame because I was looking forward to meeting some people that were not consisting of high school mentality. "Kids" here almost always cause issues because of the boredom on campus, damages acrue because of one person, honestly if this college were bigger and had more people, the variety would be a bit better. If marijuana and alcohol are the only things you're looking for from your friends, by all means come here. The professors do a pretty good job in trying to keep students enthusiastic and engaged in their studies; it really depends on your perspective, some students will not care or put forth any effort because in the end all they want to do is have a good time in college and not work for a four year degree towards finding an actual job. I have seen some shameful things here and what college doesn't have these issues? With the small number of students here it really isn't hard to point out the troubled ones. I have met some very mature, approachable, and bright people, it's just hard to find a comfort zone for yourself here. | Faculty Accessibility: A-, Social Life: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | NEC is a small campus. This can be reviewed as a good and a bad thing. Good because everyone can get a chance to know one another on a level you cannot at a large University. Bad because of this same reason, it creates a high school type atmosphere at times. There are plenty of events on campus and in recent years have been of great quality however if you want a so called "night life" you need to travel to Manchester, about a 45 minute drive. The professors are overall nice, however, some are "snooty" and sometime you (as a student) may feel you know more than them, but they are not willing to listen. Advising is sort of a joke here. I went through 3 different advisors, just barely graduated on time because in the end I had about 5-7 classes I didn't need because of poor advising. | Perceived Campus Safety: A, Education Quality: B- | | | |

| | Bright | There are self-directed students who will succeed in almost any academic environment, and then there are those who require personal attention and a bit of complementary and supplemental support. In my experience, New England College accommodates both types with ease. From the prospective of academics, NEC will not disappoint, but you must be willing to work hard for distinction and avoid the common pitfalls applicable to all college students, ie: disengagement, failure to perform, apathy, substance abuse etc. I'm not a typical student from a social prospective, but my experience tells me that students at this college are friendly, insightful, supportive, and interesting. The faculty/staff/administration are equally so.My grades were always a top priority, and to be completely honest, I probably had a few "better" options in terms of networking and distinctions. In any case, I never regret my decision for a second. I'm proud of graduating from New England College and I'm pleased with the opportunities the education has afforded me. It might not be for everyone, but for the those of us that fit in, it is the best possible choice. | Individual Value: A+, Surrounding City: D | | | |
