| Quite Bright | At the time (1983), BCC probably had one of the worst academic reputations compared to other Community Colleges in NJ. Although there were some good instructors, more than a few were uninspiring, unfocused, & played classroom politics. I transferred out after one year to another CC in NJ and my grades improved tremendously. | Perceived Campus Safety: A, Useful Schoolwork: F | | | |

| Average | I was a Criminal Justice major. My best professors were Dr. Alan Hart and Dr. George Conley. They both are retired government investigators and they both prepped and guided me towards a job. They both provided references for my potential jobs. They helped me get a State Trooper job with the NJSP. I just graduated the Academy and being that I was the top #3 academically in the Academy, BCC provided me with the necessary Criminal Justice foundations. Since this is a commuter college you only get out of the school what you put in. I worked hard and did extra work and I took the time to pick the Professors brains. Result=3.6 GPA and a $53,000.00 +benefits entry level job at 21. Thank you BCC, Dr. Alan Hart and Dr. George Conley. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: C- | | | |

| Quite Bright | I consider BBC as my worst educational experience. There are better choices nearby like OCC or Brookdale. BCC does not have a good academic reputation compared to other CC's in the area. Some of the comments made are quite right concerning instructors who grade on how they feel about you and for being less-than-professional. Although somewhat successfull today, I do not feel that BCC contributed in any meaningful way except as a comparision to the schools I attended afterwards. | Preparedness: F, Reputation: F | | |

This county college was a joke. I passed my SAT yet they still had it in their records that I didn't have a good enough score so I had to take their entrance exams. You had to have above 500 on each section, which is what I had.
Because of that mix up which I cleared very soon after, the school's system has it that I took the remedial classes when I didn't and shouldn't. On paper, it didn't look that way to the insurance company.
Next, I went through my advisor who read and signed the papers that said I planned to transfer to another institution. Rather, he got my schedule to GRADUATE from this college. My transfer coordinator caught wind of this too late and said, "What in the world did he do to you..." Mind you, that advisor is now fired because he was never at class and my second advisor is guilty of giving the same advice.
Thanks to that, I had to take another semester in this college, a semester I didn't have to take, a semester extra that pits me in my 3rd year in a 2 year institution. I have to take classes I couldn't CLEP out on because "that's just how it is."
The full-time teachers are great, and some part-time staff are too, but you'll be lucky to find a teacher that truly deserves that position. Most teachers will go into their mess of notes when you have a question or need an assistant since everybody has questions thanks to their inability to teach (I'm referring to my Physics Lab classes in particular).
The college is full of politics, the higher ups seem to make a lot of enemies with the staff themself. Believe me when I say this does affect the student almost just as much as the instructor. It is commonplace to find people embarrassed to attend this college, I'm one of many. | Preparedness: F, Reputation: F | | |
