My overall experiance at CCM was generally positive from '93 to '95 when I attended and got my Associates in Humanities/ Social Science. On the positive side the mentorship that I received from professor John Williford was invaluable. Since Cliff Wood left as director of student affairs, the quality has gone downhill. Their is no question in my mind that Brookdale is a better program, as I have seen many students transfer to the Coastal Communiversity. One can get a quality 2 or 4 year education at Brookdale's satelite campus. The students don't have the commuter mentality and their is a higher job placement rate due to more internships and colleges take more transferable credits. They have also spent $4 million to update security since Virginia Tech shootings.

CCM is a good county college compared t others. However, it is a county college and can not be compared to state colleges and universities. The library at CCM is TERRIBLE! My visit there is actually what inspired me to leave a review on CCM. The staff there have no idea what they are talking about. I asked a librarian a question about powerpoint and he siad, "I'm sorry, I have not had microsoft office training", then called two other librarians that were also lacking the basic prerequisite for any job, let alone one in acedemics. The computers are all equipped with Windows 98', I am writing this review in 2006. All in all, it was a terrible experience trying to get my work done at that library.

College is what you make it, and I'll prove it to you.
Year one: Took my classes, got A's
I would have graded this school below avarage and I would not return.
Year two: Founded the Debate Club, became a Senator and President Pro Tempore (Head of the Committees)for student government. I was an active member of Strategic Gaming, Chess Club and attended regular Inter Club Council meetings. I wrote occasional articles for the paper and took photographs.
At any other college I assure you this would not have been possible. CCM recieves the most funding of any county or community college I've ever seen. This funding helped the debate club battle Yale and Princeton during the APDA tournement. What ever your interest is CCM will get you started. They'll send you down the right path. 2 of my friends got into Ivy League schools (Cornell, Columbia, Rice, Georgetown etc.) and I'm doing Environmental studies work in Alaska.
Don't judge, college is what you make it, and CCM is the best way to start.
Education Quality: A+, Friendliness: B-

Super Brilliant
I like CCM, it's a great stepping stone. Most of the classes I've had have been interesting. I haven't had much work, save for one English class where the professor gave ridiculous amounts of work. CCM grades tough, you won't get a plus or minus. I had an 89 in a Psychology class and my professor refused to be nice and round up, so I got a B, which kept me from getting a 4.0 GPA that semester.

I'm not really all that familiar with extra curricular activities, save for the newspaper, which was a great experience. The new building is fantastic, but the main building could use a little more work. The classrooms are perfectly clean and modern, but the bathrooms are filled with crude drawings and written conversations about... well you know what. Almost the entire school is wireless.

I don't really care for the student body. The only class in which I've felt people actually wanted to be there was an Honors English class. In other classes people text message and pass notes during lectures. Most people don't bother doing the work assigned, despite the fact that they'd had at least a few weeks to finish it.
