Fairleigh Dickinson is the rich man's community college. The students that attend the University are childish and absent minded. No one cares about academics, no one cares about anything. Want to get involved on campus? Too bad, there is nothing to get involved in. You might be thinking, that is alright, college is about the grades. I'll just focus on them and move on with the rest of my life. This isn't the case at FDU. The self-centered faculty gives out low marks with no explanation in an effort to keep people from transferring out the University. The faculty thinks highly of themselves but, in general, are lazy, condescending and rude. Sometimes, they even state things that are clearly wrong just to hear themselves speak. I have already corrected two professors, one a Political Science Professor and the other a History Professor, on presenting historically incorrect information during a lecture.
In short, if you are thinking of applying or even attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, take my word for it and don't. It is too expensive for what you get in return. Your money will be better spent at Rutgers or even a community college. Everyone I room with, including myself, are all attempting to transfer out of this horrible establishment.

Not so bright
The CORE courses in Teaneck are a waste of time and money. Some of the English faculty were snotty especially that Lady Leah who was intimidating and not handing back students exams. I once tried to appeal but I then was discouraged to complain because their judgment was best intended and then found out it was a cover up to prevent me from making an appeal of my grades. I had to stay one more semester to fix my GPA but all I did was take easy A classes and that was enough for me to transfer. Take the Phy Ed classes by the dozen and you will get out of campus. I Transferred to Rutgers and things got better since then.
the Teaneck Campus is not close to New York City, if you want something close to NY enroll to a college in NY. Teaneck life campus is virtually dead except some frats and sororities but if you compare it to the numerous population Rutgers has, FDU is nothing. Plus if youre on a small classroom, if you get a boring teacher and that hates you, chances are that you're going to fail.

i was accepted to this university as a transfer student because i was given a very nice financial aid package, and also because i was told that the department of my major was a prestigious one in the world of that major. three years later, i am pretty disappointed with my experience at f.d.u. and everyone i talk to outside of new jersey has never heard of this "prestigious" university. the program i am in milks us for more money on top of the $35,000 a year tuition we are now paying by charging anywhere from $75 TO $150 for classes that we are REQUIRED TO TAKE IN ORDER TO GRADUATE. these are just regular classes. the school has also started charging "technology fees" on top of tuition. room and board is extra and meal plans are extra. this school is ran primarily as a business, not an institute for higher education. i had high hopes for attending this university, and chose it because of it's "global mission" and importance placed on liberal arts courses as well as courses that pertained to my major. what i ended up doing is basically "faking" my way through 3 years of college, keeping up a really good GPA by being nice to the professors and doing the menial assignments. i am hoping that when i apply to for a job someone has heard of this place and is under the assumption that it is a "prestigious" university, just like they fooled me into thinking. by the way, the food here is absolutely gross and generic. think microwaved salsbury steak with soggy vegetables. i drive to whole foods in madison if i absolutely have to eat something while i'm on campus and can't wait until i get home. there are no clubs or organizations on campus unless you are interested in the fraternities or sororities. the student lounges are tiny and shabby, i have to wonder where all of this tuition money is going since the professors and administrators are driving mercedes and bmw cars while the buildings fall apart and the free student functions are basically nonexistant.

Quite Bright
This school is a joke a private university in NJ. Everyone goes home on the weekends and the campus is dead. even going there for free was a waste. I would have rather paid to get a real college experience. Dorms haven't been updated since the 60s. faculty is almost all part time no one has an office unless you meet in the cafeteria or Nathans. Cafeteria hours are horrible. all the food is put up if you don't go within the first hour. The business school is not ranked highly, they deceived me with that one. Go to Seton hall or Drew!!!
