When I started Ramapo a few years ago I loved this school. I got heavily involved in a number of campus activities and truly enjoyed my experiences here. When my junior year rolled around, however, wow did the tone change. As I began to transition out of college life and into adulthood I found the school to be less than helpful. I started an internship at a very well-known company and was expected to work during holidays and certain breaks. I live relatively far from the campus (approximately 2-3 hours) and was forced to move back home during these breaks because I was told I am not an "international student, student athlete, or school employee." I was quite confused considering it was the school that offered me the opportunity to the internship to begin with. I was forced to commute 2 hours both ways to my job everyday for a month even though I was more than willing to pay to stay on campus - no one would even have a conversation with me about this. The bookstore is an absolute joke. I go to school on a loan and through that loan am granted a $600 book advance each semester. That seems fair except that the advance can ONLY be used in the Ramapo bookstore. That is great, except that each of my books runs anywhere from $200-$350 in the store (even though a cheaper alternative can easily be found online). Four books at $200-$350 a piece, I am sure you can do the math. When I approached someone regarding this issue they told me I then had to wait to recieve my refund and could purchase my books with that. The refunds are not distributed until the first or second week of March, which means that by the time I'd have the accessability to buy these books half my semester would have been completed. As I am currently finishing my last semester I feel like I am drowning just trying to make it out and Ramapo has done zero to help and/or be cooperative with these issues. It is a shame because I will say the faculty and professors at this school are amazing and if it wasn't for the incompetent, underminding administration I'd recommend to all. Unfortuantely, after this last year I would say its just not worth the hassle. If I had a choice to do it again I would, undoubtly, choose a different school.

Ramapo claims that housing is guaranteed for all four years but that is a LIE! you have to pay a $500 deposit to register for housing every year. don't be fooled!!
